Look like we will have to make a couple big lead heads in the 4 to 6 ounce range. Ai what we wont do to catch the elusive Steenbra.

Anybody up for a bit of Steenbra hunting tommorow evening.
I was thinking of going straight after work to pump some worm and then fish till 23:00. I seriously need to satisfy this hunger for a steamtrain taking of.
Cheers

Just refering back to page 3. The swiwel-less rig seems like a great idea and I tied a few for days to come.

My concern however is that the bead will break under tension or the that the knot joining the sinker line to the middel section will break. The line tends to break at the joining-knot so I made a thick knot on either side of the middle section to stop the beads...i'm sceptic though.

I made a couple of these pulley rigs but used swivels on them. Is there any reason with the swivelless rigs?
If this is going to help with this, then i would cerainly give it a try. Just on the lead story, I use grab sinkers and after every pickup i had and missed the fish. I would reel in and the sinker is definetely stil anchored in the sand. I doubt it that a Steenbra will pick up a 6 ounce wire grab and run with it. What i am definetely going to try is a skelm Hook on my rig. I have a funny suspiscion that they grab the worm higher up away from the hook, resulting in a reel run but no hookups. Dont you wish that we could actually see what is happening to our baits underwater?

Oorweeg die horses, sonwabi en palletjies.
Hulle moet een of ander tyd uitkom om te kom speel.
Gaan jy gaan vang? Indien wel kan ons dalk daar ontmoet.

Just a quick report.
Went down to Sonwabi with Midnight Marlin last night to Sonwabi. Water temp was +- 15 degrees. Beach was lined with fisherman trying their luck.
The water was very flat with a few dumpers on the shore break. No real swell or working water at all. Stayed until 02:45 and packed up after no pick ups at all. Thought of going down to Broken Road but there some A#%$le decided to park his car partly on the beach and partly on the road. Decided that it wasnt safe around these hooligans and went home empty handed. Neptune was relentless.
I tried Chocca and Pike combo as well as blood worm. But nada. Quite a few fisherman arrived when i left. Water already pulling back.
Hopefully better luck next time. Will probably try on Sunday again.
Cheers
Sakkie.
