    Thickest diameter casting braid available

Looking for the thickest diameter casting braid on the market, want to spool my 15/30 with casting braid. I had 80lb Kingfisher on, 0.43mm, which worked fine but with the restriction of WP league one may only use braid up to 50lb and hence my search of the thickest 50lb braid. The thin diameters...

Putting text and symbols est. on rods:

Ok so my rod is near completion and I want to put its name and mine on with a sign. What is the best way to go about this, because I made a stencil which I sprayed over but the end result wasnt what I was really looking for. Airbrush, sticker, some other method?

    Guide placement

Why does most (many) 3 piece surf rods only have guides on the middle and tip blank?  Would it be wrong to put one guide (a flip down) on the end of the bottom section (about 2-3cm from end)? Would this influence the rods structural integrity? The rod would thus be bottom 1, middle 2, tip 6...

    Q? Wooden rod but sections

A lot of rods have wooden but sections for durability purposes, but what is the metal tubing around it for? I cut open the wood section on an Elbe and saw that it was infact two pieces of wood with resin in between and that the resin part was covered by the metal tubing.

    Conoflex grip

So it Saturday and I’m not fishing, decide to revamp one of my old Conoflex rods. Good old fiberglass composite 3m on the dot but it’s heavy so I decide to take off the sponge grip which seems to be extra ordinarily thick. And behold, underneath the sponge there is an Aluminum/Alloy  tube...

    Catfish on fly 2010/2011

Here is my first one for the season. Took a little bread fly on the 4/5wt I got from Alwyn, wanted to get a feel for the rod and must say it handled the cat better than I expected. The bloody bugger bit me aswell which was kind of uncalled for but my own fault! Around the 4kg mark.

    Fly fishing books

I thought it well to start a list of the best (and if you want worst) fly-fishing books. I like reading these editions but find that many times one doesn’t even know these books existed until you stumble across them. So please ad the books that you have read and if you’d like a short...

    My pb carp mission

I’ve been fly fishing for carp for a number of years but my pb on fly is around the 8kg mark which I dearly want to break. I’m aiming for the 10kg mark! I decided this after yesterday when I hooked into a monster that ran me into some structure. The waters I will be targeting are...

Rebuilding a 14ft spinning rod to casting rod

I’ve decided to rebuild my Blue Marlin carp rod into a light casting rod with which I can cast baits/lures of around 2-4oz. The rod has been gathering dust in my garage for nearly ten years now and I’ve decided that it’s too good a blank to waste. I’ll probably be using it with a Torium...

Having to write a test to receive your fishing/bait/crayfish est. license

I reckon that to receive your fishing license (or any marine recreational license) you should write a test similar to obtaining a gun or learners license. Make it really simple even allowing the person to take the recreational fishing brochure with them on the test. My reason for this is that...

    Pike bait

The baitfish we know as “Pike” has gained much popularity over the last couple of years (at least to my limited knowledge) but where does it come from and how is it harvested? I like to know where the bait I use comes from so if those in the know mind sharing a bit more I would appreciate...
