I had great fun, but those damn rocks..I cant believe how much the ground at Winkle has changed:shock:...

I just hope we not fishing only between High Rocks and the rocks we were fishing off:?

Well somehow i tend to feel differently about what you guy's say about winkels being a edible ground only.I have fished there for a number of years now and what i have found iver the years is that at certain times of the year especially winter and mostly during the sard run this place produces some maybe not huge but definately non edibles.

Infact last year there were approximately 30/40 greys landed over the 2 months that i fished there. All these were in the range of 5 to 20 kg.I didnt land all of them but did witness alot of them coming out.I also managed to land a bronzie of about 15kg as well. When it comes to rays and skates well i personally sawy 8 Honeycombs in 2 weekends of fishing there. The biggest of these was about 45kg.

Yes winkels is a top edible ground but it does also produce reasonable catches of ineds although if you looking to break records then you may have to look else where. When it comes to the different areas to fish well if you go as far as the caravan park and work your way towards Voster Road and even further North you will be able to land edibles all the way right up to the car park. The best times to target the NON EDS would be either at Dusk Or Before first light. This is when i landed and also witnessed otheres land their sharks and rays.

I hope this helps. The boundries are clear you may fish from the caravan park in the south right up to the carpark beach and the rocks in the north.

Cheers Riymos

Hi there Riymos,

All we`r tryn to state is that a venue should have been chosen on a basis that it was on par with the CPT guys. Yea, Winkels is predominently edibles but tell me, if a bloke down the Cape lands a 50kg shark - 50 points, how many garrick (more than likely the more common bigger edible) would one have to catch? I know greys normally come in on a big frenzy but what are the chances of 10 greys averaging 5kg being landed, by an individual? Bear in mind the sea tides projected for this w/end.

It is indeed going to be a hard fished comp, cmon, we KZN, n we wanna kick butt!!!

Dont get me wrong, i aint complaining. Its just pure speculation from the past w/end. As angling goes, there are no set rules, anything could happen like your skates that rocked up. As for the bottom line, it is indeed a social, its going to be great to put faces to the words and just have one hell of a good time with much laughter and comaraderie. Some of my closest friends arose from sealine, an to that a lasting friendship has been formed.

So yea, lets give it all that we have, slide them Corbett-banana-thingies and let rip!!! :dude:

If we can't get a second venue (Geenpoint/Mamba Alley) then......

Khani can bring his paddle-ski and take some big baits out to backline for us!

Or is that cheating!
