from my limited bearing experience and most experience built on urban legend... the abex 5 has always been the holly grail for cost vs performance. this is in other applications as well eg skateboarding.
Will be cool to know how in the long run they perform??
True that, it would make for interesting reading on a straight up comparison. I have not, to my knowledge had an ABEC 5 bearing in any of my reels so maybe I should start there and see if it makes a difference to me.
i do think it would. It will certainly last longer.
But again i cant substantiate my claim, but having fished abex 5 in one of my reels it sure does "last longer" between services.
