merry christmas to everyone i hope you have a good one and lets hope there are more interesting fishing threads to keep us occupied next year.

Whatever software we are using for e-mail, there are always people that would have access to it. Same with SMS's

BIG BROTHER is watching

could big brother be watching you if the information you are moving around is inside a forum sent via PMs which are closed to even the admin...and would hackers be bothered with silly PMs being sent between members on a fishing forum.

This topic should've been titled "HOLY ShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhIT"

Lemme be the devil's advocate here, No stirring, just facts! Yes, it is not only possible but guanteed that it is collected and analysed, oh and Big Borther actually has a name: he goes around by the Short version name of "ECHELON", the longer version is "The most secret spy system"

Now I normally use this documentary in my awareness briefings (so I know this post is flagged and analysed, not by SL admin but by our Friends from Echelon ("Hi Guys, get some starbucks and relax")), and it scares the living CARP out of most people, moreso when they realise that the Documentary was produced in 2006 and realising it was with limited cleared information from the stakeholders, meaning that there are things they will not let you know, Ever, but the information that was realesed is scary enough, if you care to watch it. They make refference to a "baby-monitor" once you get there rewind and replay, until you are convinced that you heard right. Also of late, it has become questionable and even deniable by some countries and stakeholders, basically what it boils down to is that the documentary, was a huge mistake and they're trying to rectify it.

Just one word of advice, do not view this if you're a social animal, with a cellphone, facebook, twitter and e-mail accounts that you use often, if you're blissfuly unaware of the real world and would like to stay that way then don't watch it, if you are in anyway connected to anything electronic yes that includes drawing money from an ATM and would like to be happy doing so, don't click the link, really DON'T.  Please also, don't blame me in anyway should you withdraw from the outside world after you've taken you're entire family and relocated to some God forsaken place that's "OFF THE GRID", as a result of watching the clip.

For those inquisitive and brave enough to face the real world, here's the link: http://www.archive.org/details/Echelon-TheMostSecretSpySystem now there's a * .avi file at the bottom of the page that you can download and watch, if it doesn't work lemme know and I'll post you a copy of it.

Anyhows, wish all you guys and gals a safe and blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New year, travel safe and remeber if it's not done with Love, it doesn't mean anything!!!

Here's the short version response to your questions" could big brother be watching you if the information you are moving around is inside a forum sent via PMs which are closed to even the admin, YES as nothing is closed, not even encrypted communications of any kind.

and would hackers be bothered with silly PMs being sent between members on a fishing forum. Perhaps not hackers unless they want monetry related info, but Echelon, definately collects EVERYTHING, yes even these posts on sealine and it is guaranteed since mention to it is made !!!

There's only one thing you can be 100% sure of, and that is that everything you do with electronics IS INTERCEPTED AND ANALYSED.

There are ways and means to prevent this to a certain extent, lemme know if you're interested and I'll tell you how to.

Please this is not personal, (your post above just fits into the the enitre issue so perfectly that it would be a crime not to use it as part of explaining), Also this is done with respect and to enrich all Sealiners and the general populous' general behaviour with regards to safety and security, no offense meant, just wanna show you some of the obstackles I face on a daily basis, peoples perception of their world and false sense of security.

Now please tell me you lock your car? Do you lock your House? Do you have a password on your PC at work, perhaps you have a pin code for your ATM card? Why do you do it? To keep it safe I assume.  Then please tell me why on earth would you give your car and house keys to the first person you meet on the street, and as a bonus, if he accepts the keys, you throw in your ATM and credit card pin's. You wouldn't!

However that is exactly what you are doing once you send personal details or any nature via a PM, an e-mail, that sms you've sent your wife/girlfriend/partner with your pin to draw some money cause you left the house early to go fishing and she needs to buy something.

I've seen some posts where guys have disguished their cell-phone numbers in a post, and I can tell you one thing, they are on the right track with their personal security.

Buddy watch the doumentary and you'll soon come to realise that it's not so insignificant as we would have liked it to be, there are huge organisations and Governments that exist just for these insignificant somethings, and it's not science fiction, nor is it a conspiracy theory, it's the real world that most people don't know or care to know about, until you get a credit card statement saying you owe the bank 100's of thousands of ZAR.

Please, AGAIN, No offense is meant, just want to show people what is really happening and what the dangers are of down-playing something like a PM on a fishing forum.

What Little Green Fish is talking about is just the 'tip of the iceberg'...

If we look back in history you will notice certain periods throughout time where Gold was the currency of the day, Oil, Silver, Platinum and so forth. Today the commodity is information. YES! Even something as obscure as our PM's.

Thnaks for that invaluable information Little Green Fish...

Just to add, for anyone who is interested there's a great book to read that will give you some idea of where this is going and how long it's been in the making. If you think the Interent is by accident, think again... The book is Brave New World a novel by Aldous Huxley, written in 1931 and published in 1932.

You're welcome, it's just some small way of bettering peoples lives when it comes to security, and the worst neglected part thereof being personal security with specific regards to personal information.

I't doesn't take a pro, just give him one piece of information like a bank account number, an id number or a pic of your boat trailers' or towing vehicles number plate and he can find out where you stay, what kind of fire-arms you have, which accounts you have and so forth and so forth, it's not only possible but how do you think repo companies, ITC even your Bank opperates?

Accept the fact that with one piece of info, more and more pieces are collected and they all lead to new info, with more and more links to more info, so just one piece is enough, and this is the scary part, check the pics posted of boats fro sale or vehicles and so forth, not too even mention the banking details we send each other on the PM's oh and shall we dare to forget the cell phone numbers?

Guys, it takes one interested in your life person, and you'll wake up, living a nightmare, so be carefull with your personal detail, don't be paranoid cause that is sometimes worse, just be careful.

OSIE WROTE : "O ja, and IF you are sending pics of your naked girlfriend to your mates you clearly have no respect for her...just something to think about"

Dude, you seriously need to put a sense of humour on your Christmas wishing list...I was referring to Minki as in Minki vd westhuizen...
