Me?It's given me an extension on my fishing life.Wouldn't still be fishing if it wasn't for Sealine.Pure Ispiration!

Sealine's taken me onto catches I would never have had expected of me.  

I break rods,post my accidental breakages,and before I know it,I'm offerred replacement rods.

Bought 2 x Trini 50's and a Blade at a steal

Rekindled my rod building which I had stopped for 5 years

Learnt abut the Great Trophy who can chew water and only bows to the great King Neptune

Positive side:
Great boating section, Fishton you a leagend with Marine Equipement
Enjoy the boating ad section just to browse.
Lure fishing section is awesome, thx SPIN for a greatthread keeping us up to date on when and where.
And the DIY section really keeps one interessted, well done Bennie.

Negative:
I found how fickel people are regarding others catches and always downing a persons fish size with the famous old saying "photoshoped"

All in all a great site but has gone a bit quiet on the fishing side. Fishing must be in a slumo at the moment country wide. Threads are alot less than when I joined 2 and bit years ago.

My take:

 

Positve:

1. Sealine could be considered as the fishing "Bible" of knowledge.

2. 99% Friendly and very helpfull members.

3. Exposed to new ideas + tips.

4. Keeping in tune with new trends regarding fishing and marine related issues.

5. Moral support when a member is going through a tough patch.

Negative:

1. The "Johnny know it all" type.

2. In fighting and mud slinging - that get too far, or has no space on the site.

3. Still Political posts or racially bias members.

4. Perhaps if a newbie asks a question that's been asked before, or a so called stupid question - he gets flack via unsavoury responses or remarks.

5. Some members that view themselves as Moderators or an assumption of superiority over others.

7. Suppose to be a family site, but words like - k*k, kuk and and .... are allowed.

Not one would have happened if sealine was not around!

Learning from the best makes it a joy to fish!!

So many guys willing to give what they dont maybe have just to help others out!!


@Serra moz- this not aimed at you just a point.
If people in SOuth africa would just leave the frase "ja, BUT" out for once SA will be a happier place. IF we just for once actually stop and focus on the positive and good things in SA it will go much better. BUt myself included focus on the negative things too quickly as it justifies why it is going bad with ourselves

Got some excellent info on this site! Never knew there was so much strategy to fishing and it's great to slurp up all the knowledge of previous posts and topics.

Going to put the things I've learnt to the test over December and hopefully report my first nice catch. And I'm going to target my first shark this coming holiday, so hold thumbs guys!

Still learning new tips and tricks but so far....

Helped me pick up a previously "dead" hobby and rekindle my love for it especially the R&S aspect of it! 

Made my Dad sit up and take notice when I landed my first and PB Musselcracker, Cob within 6 months of joining the site. To me thats an accomplishment cos I guess one always looks for acknowledgement from your father in this regard.

I now confidently walk into a Tackle shop and know what to look for without having to listen to the SALES PITCH.:uzi(t(do(wn)::teas::                                            Yesterday comes to mind when a salesman tried to sell (con) me a rod not suited for the application.

Then theres the lounge section which you can get some good advice on anything... just ask.

Went to a fishing clinic and then discovered how litttle I actually knew and cleared up a lot of misconceptions.

What more could I ask for?

Met some great people, learned a boat load and easily turned fishing from a hobby into a passion!!

Wow. Where do I start? I've been fishing for about fifteen years but started without anybody with experience to help me. I picked up what I could from tackleshop guys and from guys fishing near me(can't believe there are experienced fishermen who are not prepared to help a newbie)At one stage I felt like I hit a brick wall and sort of lost a bit of interest in the sport. Then came Sealine......and things started taking a turn for the better.

Just this weekend I landed an 8kg kob at Witsand with a bait presentation I learned on Sealine (Chokka and Pilly combo)Personally, I hope this site is around for along time to assits others like me. Viva Sealine....Viva!

I can not believe that there are more than 200 views and so few posts.

Since joining the Sealine site I have met a good few friends and learnt a hell of alot from reading threads.

The most important thing I have learnt and try to put into practise as often as possible is "catch and release". Before joining I was not as clued up about fish stocks and so on and so forth. Even my mates that fish with me that are not on the forum are catching on.

To every single person that has posted a thread and all who have commented on it I thank you all for making my day at the office much better.

P.S.: Some guys need to lighten up and learn to take some comments with a pinch of salt.

Sealine also turned me into a complete tackle tart.  I've thought my first rod & reel combo was the ultimate, until I joined this site.
