You pull them around the right of the pier (South side) and into the gully where you can use a gaff. Could big dagga and garrick there, even in the evening.

@Salty - whichever is cheapest....

The conditions are much better, the sea has been crazy for the last 2 weeks.

Here is a webcam photo of Margate Beach, taken this morning.

It is about that time of year when the light tackle comes out and I hit the gullies and bays along the Margate Stretch.

No luck today, I fished Orange Rocks as well as Manaba.

Nothing at all, only 2 small little bites.

Considering going down for a few hours tonight.

Saw the article in Stywe Lyne about the Margate Pier. Looking good on the picture, but not finished yet. Any idea of when it will open?:ifishin

Margate pier has finally reopened.

My buddy and I were the first to fish off it and I claimed the first cast.

Here is a short video clip.

Fished that pier in the 60's through the 70's and a few times after that. Lotsa stories there. My oldman had to lift a few okes that got washed into the gully of the pier over the rocks there once. He whent down the stairs and saved the poor bugers life. Cut up properly. Caught my best of that pier as well a 37Kg salmon. As it landed my Gran from Sheppie was there to claim the tail.:wfish

Hi. Fished the pier again for a while yesterday, mainly to build up my shad/bait collection.

Chaos, with more guys being bust for undersized/overbag shad.

If you cant use your brain, then you must use your wallet.

Nice going there Shane. Was it a throw bait  or slide? Did you lift it onto the pier or land it on the rocks?

Live Shad. Brought it around the left and then the resident Gaffman, brought it up.

Was caught on the top hook and the treble was hooked into his gills.

Great Fish Curry. Fed half teh neighbourhood.
