BC, I almost blew a casket ...
I just did, blow a gasket I mean. And it was a DKW cylinder head gasket at that. Critter, I know we don't see eye to eye but really...!!!So yes, I am really interested in...big carp and in their conservation...
I just dont like keepnets, LOL... and those that carry on like hooligans...
....i try and educate ppl wherever I go fishing...
BC, to judge people by one's own standards is a little self-assuming, don't you think? People who eat fish are not necessarily hooligans are they?good populations of carp, bass, and other species... they have co-existed in these dams for centuries...
Jeepers skrops, and to think I might have been fishing with you at night!
Wow GTZA, do you always address ppl with such high english?
Hehehe, BC, I was actually told once that my being Afrikaans becomes very obvious when I attempt to use English.Lastly, I dont care if catch and release of big carp is against the laws, "against conservation practices" or whatever you fundi's think up.... I will keep doing it, and keep preaching it.
Hey critter, cool it dude. My posting to you was all tongue in cheek.
[shadow=blue]Understood, and don't worry, I was not at all heating up....it takes quite a lot to get my gasket blown for real[/shadow]:lol:1
On the more serious side, I do have an issue with protecting or conserving the BIG carp purely for reasons of how that will contribute to the management issue. When we deal with invasive animals in ecosystems we tend to forget that they have some traits invasive plants don't have. For one, they are more mobile and can play hide-and-seek. Two, they have nervous matter. Even amoeba have been demonstrated to assimilate and integrate information, hence they learn. And the big buggers did not get big by being the blunt knives in the drawer. Three, the propensity to learn is a genetic trait and is passed on to their offspring. Four, the bigger a female the more offspring she produces.
In my aritmetic book one plus one is exponential.
I gues that you are a much more hardened environmentalist than I am. I am still "green and soft" in this field, and is constantly looking for sollutions that will please as much as possible people. Being the optimist that I am, I would rather educate as many possible people to manage resources, than to try and convince them that those are bad resources and should be completely demolished.[shadow=blue]I see your point in terms of the big carp. It is actually because of the traits that you name that I say that it would be impossible to completely irradicate them. I gues my point of view then is that if you can't beat them, manage them[/shadow]
Ah shame, you resorting to threats now GTZA? Seems thats what old men do.
Oops, here you wasted my time again.
Enjoy your little power games...Bye!
Eish, and the pounding continues...never had a whole forum up against me... [shadow=blue]you don't have a entire forum against you! [/shadow]
Wow GTZA, do you always address ppl with such high english?[shadow=blue]Yes sir so he does![/shadow]:addn
You are free to leave, but that will do absolutely nothing for the specimen carp angling scene! My advise is still to rather make it sound like fun, and educate along the way than be so serious about it! Everyday live and making a living is serious enough, lest just have fun when fishing and talking about fishing!!!!As I said previously elsewhere, we big carp anglers are on our own... once again proven here....which is quite a pity. [shadow=navy]This makes it sound as if you are part of an elite race that is dying! Thruth is, you are not as lonesome as you think, but not every-one will take things as seriously as you![/shadow]
Well I think I've had enough. Clearly there is no place for my style of fishing here. So guys enjoy, I'm outta here. [shadow=navy]Well, I do not mean this in a bad way, but you can not give up so quickly on something that you really believe in so much![/shadow]
