Any more details you can share with us regarding tackle and baits used would be great. Also where exactly was this fish caught.

Any giant king is a hand full no matter what size so im sure you must have had loads of fun with this one.

Cheers Riymos

Hi Bugguns

Ain't exactly a "trip" as I work here on a six week rotation. To make life here a bit more tolerable I pass every free moment I have at the waters edge.

Must also say fishing is not too easy here as there is no surf, as you can see from the attached pic, and very shallow for at least 200m.

Finding decent bait here is a problem as the "locals" only use nets for fishing . So now I resort to using calamari rings from the local supermarket, with a sardine which we get at the local fish market. "Not a good place to go on a empty stomach"

That on a 2.0 long shank hook  with a 1m sliding trace has produced some exciting results. The last kinggie was caught with same setup, only added a "squid lure" for a bit more movement .

Hi Boet

Well done with the limited resources! Marks of a true fisherman.

Where about are you situated in Mozambique?! We planning a trip down to potodoro, Santa Maria and Inhaca...any idea what the fishings like there. Maybe we can hook up! ;)

Any info would help!

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy.

I don't think that you get Giant Kingfish in the Atlantic Osean. The fish on the foto looks like a Jack Crevalle. It is a tipe of Kingfish but not the gaint kind. I might be wrong but a guide in Angola has told me this. The record as far as I know is 29 kg.

Still a very nice catch.
