Thanks for the comments guys. I wouldn't normally post these fish except the first one of the season but what joy I get when you see your efforts you put in pay off . It's always good to know you built a solid rod and it's always nice to catch something like that on something you specifically built for that purpose. It was also an interesting morning the day after.....;)

Nothing better than knowing and seeing your efforts paid off. Great stuff!! ;)

I must say, the mag it has been working well in trying conditions and makes life so much easier. Having some issues with the braid but getting it sorted. That one was taken on mono with braid leader. The mono is out casting the braid. So will probably go full mono on the reels.

Putty you absolute legend. Awesome fish. Been a few goens at the Kranz too I believe.

Dont bother with the kraantz. You guys have that fish on your doorstep in simons town and fishhoek. Unfortunately, youll probably be getting spawning fish now as happens every year for a while over this period, but you never know. The rats will be moving in soon.

Shot Grootvis, yeah I was planning on a mission out Simons area towards Fish hoek. Just need to make some time but hopefully there is some action over the weekend.

brilliant, well done, I am intrigued to hear you reckon there are more of those beasts swimming around between Simon's Town and Fish Hoek

Those are great catches , congratulations !

Dont give up on the braid/multiplier combo until you have tried the adjustable route. Ask Old salt to make you one of these low profile adjusters. spinning multipliers dnt really need a clicker - dedicate one to an adjustable...
