You have explained in your own post that the uniqueness of your product cannot be copied and that ensures that your loyal customers will stay with you.
Due to the statements made by TW, I expect that there will be a flood of "similar looking", yet affordable alternatives in the market, very soon.

I hope he hasn't damaged your future prospects for enetring the south African market.

You will always find similar alternatives around every corner. It would be stupid not to learn from something and make your own alternatives with what you might perceive as improvements. Hey I've done it I just don't make or commission anybody to make carbon copies of existing ones. If the first bloke who made a popper was never emulated we would not have the diversity we have today. Each and every popper works on the same principals, push water and make a noise but may have a different action. I like weighting mine at the tail a little because I like trolling one at the back of a spread.

Andries no disrespect like i told you in the PM you just got . Orions are sold in EURO or you get them in USA , just because the exchange rate is not in our favour you cant justify some one stealing/coping the mans products, wich Andre has gone to great pains to tell us they did not intentionally do. if you want Orions chat to Andre direct he has possibly the biggest collection of originals in the country he may have a few he will part with .Else get them online direct from Eric or PM him, any shop is going to add its mark up anyway.

Just because it may be more that R300.00 for some models doesnt make it an exclusive club .if you  can afford to pay upwards of R15000  to go on  a holiday out of this country to catch GT,s  and you dont blink an eye to buy 20 Orions then yes its an exclusive club . seems you and me are non members of that club mate .I own a hell of a lot of poppers and stickbaits but on

Mark, Andries and anyone else - There is no chance of me parting with my Orions....

Guys, as Mark has pointed out, high quality lures cost what they do because of the efforts put into them by the designers and builders, and the components used in there make up, built to with stand big GT's and other nasties.... unfortunately with our weak exchange rate, these lures can at times be frighteningly expensive, but thats the price we pay for the best... no use have the best rod, reel and braid, and paying top dollar for the trip of a lifetime, and throwing cr@p lures which won't raise fish..... Not saying you have to have expensive lures to catch fish, but as with most things, you usually get what you pay for.

Good stuff. Looking forward to discussing big fish now. Would have been nice to know who copied them though hey? At the end of the day it is him who started this whole thing and poor Jigstar has taken all the flack for him while he sits back smiling.. probably reading this and laughing his ass off.

I have great respect for the community of South African anglers and have only met great people from this proud nation during some of my fishing trips to either Angola, Mozambique or Oman. I wish to fish again with my friends from South Africa and share with you the results of my future fishing trips.

I understand that the euro rate exchange and shipping cost together with import duties is making my product expensive in SA, these are factors I cannot do anything about. Fishing with an Orion lure is open to anybody, it's not an exclusive club. You pay for what you buy as I commit to quality.

Like anybody else I am concerned by the price of fishing gear and I make an effort to price my products in the most affordable way. The price of my lures reflects the many years spent in designing and testing them worldwide, the time it takes to make them and the expensive costs of  materials. Compared to other lures the prices might be on the high average. Please be aware that each Orion lure is handmade by myself in my own production unit and not subcontracted to a foreign manufacturer. The lure will last as long as you don't loose it. Even it's full of teeth marks, it will catch fish over and over.
