On 12 October 2013, Witsand will have their annual Baby Whale Festival.
Their will be a Fishing competition strongly driven by the Lower Breede River Conservation, and all kayakers are invited.
The South Cape Angling Club will be there and ask for the Cape town and PE guys to try and make it.
The Competition will be based on Catch and release, in river or at sea. NSRI guys will have all their boats in the water for standby.
It will be great to have a lot of kayaks in the water for a good get together as well as promoting the sport.

Any further questions surrounding the competition and accommodation can be directed to Johnny Swart at 0829401629

Hope to see some of you there.
PS, October is the start of the big KOB season.

I hope you have an awesome turnout!

Just as a matter of interest, how are you going to have the competition based on a catch and release basis? Will there be a weigh in station on the water or must the guys take pics of their catches?

Great initiative, I wish you a lot of success!

The South Cape club rules are very similar to what can be expected from the Witsand compo. Basicly a buddy system. Photo of fish with a buddy sighning as witness. At weigh in you only give in your length of fish plus a pic.

Normally that time in October the Breede is back to normal. But then again the big grunter and kobbies likes a bit of discolored water.

Sorry for late reply.

It is a kayak only compo.
The competition will be from 6:00 to 16:00.
You can start paddling at first light. Only lines in water at 6:00.
At 16:00 your length chard of fish caught must be handed in. No Later.
Photo of all fish caught, with a buddy on the water with you needs to sign as witness.
4 rods per kayak, only 2 in the water at any given time.
Its not illegal for kayaks to be trolling, but The Lower Breede River Conservancy that is helping with the compo asked if the anglers will keep trolling with rapala like lures for cob to a minimum.
Do not have problem with trolling live bait.

If the compo is a success then it will be a yearly event. Heard of some good prizes to be won.

See you guys there.

The 16:00 is when all catches must be declared by giving
signed length cards to competition master.
You can be part of compo even if you are 5min ON the water.
