I think I will post a tutorial on the diy side of how to build one of those 'pam-pams' one of these days. Very interesting how they can build them so symetrical with only an axe and a hammer out of tree stumps all in under a week.

It was less than half the price to rent than the glass fiber boat so i will take a chance this weekend on the pirogue; this one is 10m long. I am a little apprehensive, as it is not a good feeling having a 20mm piece of timber be the only thing separating you from 100m of ocean twenty miles out to sea!

I am surprised how big the swells are here in Senegal; Madagascar was like a lake compared to this place.

I see a problem jigging though as it needs a floor or you can’t lean against the gunnels. Am paying R530 to fish from 07h00 up to 13h00 so it is not too badly priced.

Thanks for all your help with the GPS coordinates; you really went out of your way to give me a hand.

 Apparently they catch two different types of AJ here so i may be able to add to my Amberjack species this weekend.

Well, I know you are going to show me how to jig for West African species, just trying to speed up the process :)


You seem to have there the same problem I have here, shorter continental "shelf" that will probably mean you will have to jig deeper to escape local fishing pressure.

Let's wait and see.

Hi I use to drive gladiator lures chater boat "fishing on line" for 13 years.I can give you some in put on that jig.The first one we made was a tuna plastic skirt ,medium one.I saw a guy putting barrel sinkers inside the head and he use to pull it at close to planning spread for cuts.if he finds them he would put live bait.we gave some of these for the ginjats comp.one guy turn it around and jigged it .this how the design as you know it came about.Gladiator lures closed down.So I suggest get a big tuns plastic bulb squid and fill the head with big barrel sinkers to the Wight you like turn it up side down and jig it.it works
