Smash and Grab

Today I decide to take a days leave. Wake up in the morning go net mullets and head for the beach. No wind, sea beautiful but low tide. Get set up with the 1x live bait rod, slide my bait.

My friend pitches up with a coke and pie, super stoked. We talk for about 15mins and he decides to head back to work. A minute later he phones me from the car park. MY CAR HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO.

I pack up, get to my car, drivers window smashed. This is 13.30pm people parked everwhere and walking towards the hospital and beach. No-one saw nothing!!! Lucky my car alarm scared them off.

All they stole was my Trini 20A and sunglasses.

I have not specified my tackle and submitted a claim for R5K for rods lost off the jetski in Moz. They paid no quibble .

Sorry to hear that,at least the cops pitched ,in Port Alfred they dont even answer the phones,i dont even bother anymore ,i just phone the security company.

Its a bloody hassle more than anything, having to replace the window,my window was smashed in to steel a old set of keys that was lying on the seat

Sorry for your losses, we were at Tugela from 31 May to 3 June. They stole two rods on the surf at night while the guys were baiting up there 2de rods, they were only 10 meters away and didn’t see anything. The Sunday morning at about 2 in the camp they raided two caravans (3 rods, 5 reels & 2 tackle bags). Also my friends boat, another 8 rods and his bag but luckily not his reels. This turned a great getaway in to an awful experience.

Luckily they didn’t get to my stuff, the worst was the one caravan where they stole this young guys gear, his first year of working and saved for a decent rod, reel and bag. He was in tears, they packed up the morning and went home halfway on to their holiday.

You know I don't know what to say, certainly a sad state of affairs! Besides some minor incidents Moz, its safe, you can fish at night - locals will come and chat to you, perhaps ask you for some hooks or whatever. Also they'll give you some tips.

Hi guys - its sad to hear about yr losses, and realy not a gr8 feeling to be the victim. All I can say is not to give up on reporting bad/rotten cops - if we leave each incident , then the rotten or spoiled spot gets bigger till its un-controlable.

Yes it might seem as if there are no good cops out there , but rest assure they do exist , and they too struggle to keep the flag flying high.

If you guys have details wrt date , time , reg numbers , names etc , and iro irregulaties , ie corruption , drunkenness , bribery etc, and do not want to report it for some reason, or dont trust the cops , then pass it on to me , and I will most defn  report yr case, and try my best to have yr case attended to at least.

Even with a mere investigation into irregularities , it does have an impact on the daily living of those rotten cops.

Maybe one out of ten will be found guilty or chased , at least it is a start in the right direction.

Those interested can Email me. (See profile for details)

We did phone the police, and within 30 minutes they were there. The guys opened dockets even if we know this will only contribute to the stats at the end of the day. But this is what is needed as the police use this info to detriment the amount of law enforcement that is required in an area.
