Hi Mike (and the rest of the lads)
OK I said I'd come back to you and here I am. The scenario is quite simple really, Sealine has been set up to put anglers in touch with each other to share knowledge, promote conservation and have fun.
When it comes to socials, they are just that socials. Comps on the other hand are quite structured in terms of sponsorships, money and accountability.
Let me give you a scenario to hopefully explain why the resistance. A bunch of guys on Sealine get a fish for cash comp going, R75 per person. Word spreads and the next thing there is 50 guys fishing, 30 from Sealine and 20 not. Now a dispute arises at the end of the comp, who is accountable?? Who's reputation will be trashed??
What if there is no result, do you pay the guys back? Do you do a carry over to the next comp, and then 10 guys can't make it, what happens to their cash?
If you recall our comp, there was an oops with who was second and third, and as a result we now have a second, third and forth, due to the structures and sponsorships Sealine had in place, so all ended positively.
The moderators and administrators are just trying to protect the reputation of Sealine and it's members for the benefit of all. Remember that none of the moderators or administartors get financial gain from Sealine.
I hope this clears things up. Any further comment or feedback is welcome.
Thanks
Coxy
