great catches guys!!

Koper is that a Cunene spotty by any chance?
Chris, spotty was caught about 30Km north of Henties, still a couple of clicks to the Cunene.

Out of interest, the reason for asking - are they a different sub specie or something?

A photo from last weekend. The best part about R&S: admiring our beautiful fish, tagging them and then watching them swim away strongly. Busy tagging a Gully that took a whole mullet on a 12/0 circle with .50mm KFGA along the EC coast

Releasing a tagged kob back into the yellow foam. Taken on a chokka bait inbetween shoals of mullet getting smashed by leerie and kob, wish I had my spoons. Besides having a great fishing day, my girlfriend was the photographer so she finally saw why we do it

Ok not the most amazing fish but still a 2011 pb for me, Natal Stump of around 2.5kg, but how often do you get a pic of a fish after the release. After I caught it we put it back in a pool and Spar had a field day trying to snap the Stump at the right angle...just for sharing!

2011 was a year of many PB's for me. A 207kg Raggie, a black pylie of 75 kg but the one fish that stood out for me was the 135.4 kg Bronze Whaler caught off st Francis.

That fish tested me in every way physically and mentally but being able to land this shark successfully after 3 hours with two great friends - Jaco and Trophy - priceless.

Then to jump into the pool and guide her into the deep blue...WOW

This is my biggest fish to date, being a freshwater angler this was a real treat. A local from Betties bay took me fishing at Silversands and I managed to catch a 160cm, 161cm and a 170cm (26,7kg ORI) Spotted Gully Shark in the same morning, we fished from 6:30am to 10am.

Here is the gear and bait that was used.

Rod: Assassin
Reel: Torium
Tackle: Throw Bait with grapnel sinker
Bait: Mullet
