Northern suburbs dams

I've recently been getting the itch to go fishing again. Back in the day we were catching carp at Diep rivier (that heavily overgrown river just as you enter Tableview from the N7). Had some epic days there. Not even sure if it's worth trying there these days?

As I am currently living in Vredekloof and do not want to drive an hour to wet a line, can anyone suggest some local dams? Vygeboom, Sonstraal that I know holds fish are all off limits, that pretty much goes for all water holes I've stopped at around this part of town.

I am hoping you can give me some guidance for local spots around Durbanville etc. Can you go and fish on all these Wine farms?

Bellwater Park dam is good for bass and carp, you need a special license though. Magic Forest is good for carp and catfish, don't recall if there's bass. There's also a farm in the area that has a dam with good carp, Dewdale or something, I forget the name it's been a long long time since I last fished in the Cape.

Thanks for the reply Eugene. The thing is it seems so much has changed so I was hoping to hear back from the local crowd that is still fishing these areas.

note that you do require a licence to fish these dams.

i dont fish any of the other dams due to fishing not being allowed there.

If you're willing to drive as far as zeekoevlei then I'd recommend Rondevlei - safe and good fishing with carp up to mid 30's. There's an entrance fee for fishing, can't remember how much, but it wasn't too bad.
