Morning,

So last week i decide to go out to Blouberg to wet a line or two........on arrival i realise that i forgot to check out the wind, but nevertheless, the wind is pumping, 25km SE, but i figure i drove all that way, why not just have a throw or two!

So on my own trip i gather my tackle, start baiting up, taking my time, producing a bait presentation of note........

walking towards the water, just my brother & i on the beach, i cast with much difficulty lol, trying to battle the wind.......

After about ten or so minutes i feel one or two pulls but nothing....then i see on the far side two kite surfers decide to hit the waters about 300 or so metres away.....not too worried i bait up and cast again.....

not too long after, i see the tip of my rod dipping but i dont strike just yet.......wind was pumping drastically so i didnt set my drag very loose, otherwise my line would have been laying flat on the sand.........another pull......about twenty seconds later as i'm walking towards the toilet........wopz.....wopz......my rod shhots out the rod stand, reel screaming.......and rod sliding towards the water at an intense pace!

I turn quickly, sprinting like Hoosain Bolt......and get my rod just in time, and as i pull on it, i see this F*%$#*^ kite surfer almost fall off his board, and only then realise that he surfed over my line.....and all i wanted to do for the rest of the day was to try and cast against his head, but i stopped myself and rather left the beach......!!!

But anyway lol the joys of fishing, at least i caught something!, or rather something caught me:::S!!

my friend you should see the guys paddling at PE something good. Some of them are retarded beyond believe. you get one or 2 guys that will check your line but most of them just straight paddle over your line.

Wouldve loved to see you hook and fight the kite surfer.LMAO

Hiya Krillin,

We have the same problem with surfers and PERLIE DIVERS!

Regarding surfers...comes down to lack of respect and manners. I mean if I get down to the water and there are already surfers in the water then I go to another spot.

Surfer boys just pull into your spot and then give you stick for being there!

SOmetimes I'm so tempted to drop an 8oz, but sense kicks in just in time!

BAD bad manners!

im with toe 007 there, some jet ski guys are complete idiots (no offence to anyone with a jet ski). whenever i fish in the estuary the boats cruse by slowly and avoid my line while the jet ski's gun it rite over my bait :uzi::jdski

Reminds me of a fishing trip to Misverstand Dam yonks ago. Having a few sundowners with a few lines out for carp. A jetski comes past an hooks the line of my mates wife. The little grinder spun faster than the eye could see for around 10 sec before pop.

Been trying to hook a fish that does the same since then!

Hou anders mense in ag asseblief.

Had a similar experience with a surfer at Scottburgh point a few weeks back.

I got there before sunrise, put out a bait and start spinning for some shad. As while later a few other anglers joined me and we had three or four lines out just before sunrise.

As the sun peeks out, so does three surfers (must say it was a nice right break!!) and proceed to enter of the rocks an surf right where our lines are.

They actually managed to pull al the lines in the first set of waves!!!!! I brought mine in and since the shad came in I went back to spinning for them. Two shad later another surfer decides to enter the water from the rocks in the bay side (right where we are fishing for shad). I kept spinning and a few casts later, this idiot came gunning down a wave straight into my line, pulling it all with him. Unfortunately for him, the spoon came back as I held the drag and I managed to hook into a SIZA (approx 1.85m pre-caudal). Was not a long fight as he immediately stopped in midwater and tried to bite through my line. Not so easy with braid and waves heading towards you. So he ended up swimming removin the spoon and allowing me to reel it in whilst he gave me a very nice concerto in F Major :blah:blah

Rather than get into a fight I decided to shoot the breeze with some of the locals while having a smoke and lo and behold the same dude gets caught by another angler!!

These guys (surfers) came barging in long after the anglers where there and proceeded to surf where we where fishing until most guys gave up. One or two elderly anglers tried jitting them with a few 5 oz sinkers, but thank goodness they missed otherwise we (the anglers) would have been the bad guys!!

i must admit that most places where you have a kiff wave , does not hold good fish , i know this is a bit of a generalization .

But then agian , the folks from inland always generalize and on numerous occasions just got told 'julle surfers is mos Dagga rookers ' lol lol

so, do you smoke the reefer. just kidding and not all inland guys think that. i just want the same respect from surfers that i give to them. i don't fish where they are already surfing and i expect the same. and by the way, the inland surfers are much worse than the local guys in the area i fish

Have the same kind thing when fishing here in the Ballito area as well.

Surfers will come in after ur lines are in and don't give a damn...

@*&^!(&^# Aapie! hehehe

Guys, my father in law got a kite surfers back for U at Struis about 2 years back, I watched him, (this was by accident) wait and then cast, just as a surfer went by, he let rip - my father in law could not see him (did not have his glasses on!)

Really though he was gonna do some serious damage, sinker wrapped round the ropes of the kite and down went the surfer was really funny, once I realized he was not hurt, that was.

Even more crazy was few months later was doing some work for a client at his home, and noticed the gear he had and when discussing fishing surfing etc found this was the actual dude that was "hooked" This kite surfer hates fishermen, and explained why.
Frigging small world, oh and did not mention that was my PA that nailed him!
