Mackeral Jig for Shore Angling

Guys if any of you are flyfisherman, or know any fly fisherman who tie flies, these are really simple to make up yourself.
When I lived on the KZN South Coast, myself and my old man nailed the bottom fish off our little duck with home made Sabiki rigs, which we tied up ourselves with better qquality hooks and bigger hooks on some of them.
All you need is a few simple materials, some glow beads and the hooks, then tie them up, and make up a trace of them.
We found that tippping the hooks with a little sliver of sardine or squid which was better and tougher, improved our catch ratio immensely!
My best fish taken on one of these rigs was using a homemade one, tied with size 8 hooks, on a my Bass Stick, with a Diawa Baitcaster, 5.5kilo line and one sprained wrist from a rugby game the day before, I landed a 7.5 kilo Catface rockcod!!! Gave me a serious rev on that little out fit! Thankfully the hook held!

Could we impose for some instructions on the tying?

The knots used can either be complicated, or pretty simple..... Dropper loop knots are fairly easy once you get the hang of it.
The other option, espcially if you are making up a rig for catching bait and smaller species, is just to tie in a couple of figure 8 loops,(xmas tree trace style) then cut the loop about an inch from one side, which leaves you with a long tag end on which to tie your hook/fly. I always leave about an inch of tag on the "other end" to leave space for the knot to tighten down if by some chance you hook something with shoulders.
I wouldn't use this method when using larger hooks and targeting larger species
As to tying the flies, its about as simple as it gets in flytying. If anybody down here in CT wants a rig, I could tie you up a few no problem.
Maybe I'll just tie some up and take pics along the way for anyone who is interested.

Dropper loops are the easy part, I spent some cash a few years back on geof wilsons book.

I have been fishing with mackerel jigs (yozuris) for years and beside the red eyes, mackerel, mossies, pinkies and shad I have caught a 17kg dagga and a couple of queen mackerel (snoek) not to mention the amount of times I have been bitten off.
You know the shad are around when you go from 6 hooks to 4 to zip. If you arent getting fish add a bit of tease (small pieces of sard) and see the inquiries you get.
We use them of the ski boat, paddle ski and throw them of the beach. I find the ones with pink feathers most productive and the little gold hooks also work, says something for the bling hmmm...
Try buy the ones with the greatest diameter line cause they get nibbled of by the shad
