Looking for scratching rod

Might as well also look at the Shimano Tribal 13ft 3.5lb

stuck between this rod and the 9ft Regiment.. Tribal definitely on the heavy side that has been converted to 11ft for Namibia trips by guys who own it but feel i will leave it as is for extra distance.. the 9ft Regiment as it can handle 3oz but also lighter quarter to three quarter ounce lures etc.. the 10 and 11ft Regiment too stiff for my liking

but each to his own

you can never go wrong with that Shimano 110H... you will be able to sell it for a R1000 very easy again (just wait for summer :) )

I was pretty set on exage, but I'll have a look. Pitty they don't come in 11ft.

Just got myself a decent light spinning setup. Bought a penn Regiment 11ft XH 1-4oz paired with a Penn Clash 5000.

Will be using this to scratch as well as throw lures and paddle tails.

Some of my friends own this rod and they have managed to pull some heavy ineds on this rod. A recent post on Penn Fishing South Africa also showed someone pulling a Raggie of 200kgs on this rod. So i thknk its got lots of backbone for both scratching purposes and in case something bigger takes you. And at only R1300 this is well within your budget and the guides that are fitted are braid guides.

GO have a look

It does come in an 11ft and of I were you, I would seriously consider this rod. The 110h is amazing, but a new one is out of your budget. Just go look at the Triple X and I'm sure it will impress you.

Don't get hung up on the Exage, it's been around for a long time now and other newer rods have surpassed it.

Thanks Soupcan, I'll have a look when I get the opportunity. Problem is that the closest tackle store is 180km away...
