Can 2011 just pass please...

its been a dismal year wrt fish.

Although I have the following:

1. Pb Steenbras; 80cm
2. First Galjoen 36cm (can only get bigger)

That`s it for 2011.

After giving fishing a break for a few years and starting up again in winter 2010, 2011 has been pretty good.

Caught my first cracker, 9kg.

First leerie on artificials, as well as a skippy, elf and cob. (First elf on artificial was actually caught this morning).

Had a tussle with and landed a foul hooked juvenile bronzie of 47kg.

From the nature side of things, had a VERY close encounter with a LARGE, grumpy bull seal. Spotted a sea turtle at close range this week (a first for me) and saw plenty of whales. Numerous breaches spotted this morning.

Edit for cracker pic. (Scaled and gutted). ORI tables say 9kg but it was heavier.

Can't say much about me but Carol's 45cm gallie will forever be etched in my mind.

Agree - 2011 was not such a nice year wrt pb's, but did manage a few:

19,8kg Eagle Ray
18,7kg Blue Ray
52cm Galjoen
1,6kg Belman
Also memorable, although no PB, the hard fighting bronzie of 2 weeks ago - 85,38kg.

Then, probably a few of my proudest moments.... My 5-year old boy's bluntnose sandy of 106cm, his first blue ray of 47cm, and his performance in the WP Mini League U/9 Division.

Okay so 2011 has been a pretty bad non-ed year for myself but the new year is coming and hopefully I get lucky for a change.Obviously because It's my first year I have caught a PB non-ed but It's not even worth mentioning. What is worth mentioning is that I have learn't a hell of a lot in a short space of time on sealine, and by fellow sealiners. I just want to say thank you to the sealine members that have helped me and answered all my silly posts.

There are SO MANY congrats that need to be given! You guys have ALL bettered your personal bests! (I put personal bests in lowercase because 2012 is another year, and provides new goals to achieve).

Mine? In fishing terms is the 143cm FL Doggie I got a few weeks ago. Nowhere near the best ever...... but it's MY BEST!

More important to me than my Doggie are the EXPERIENCES I had, with the PEOPLE I had the privilege to fish with in places like Mozambique, New Zealand and Madagascar. In South Africa - on the West Coast where our other home is, and at Shelly Beach on the KZN South Coast. There are SO MANY wonderful anglers out there!

My PB's are the people I have the good fortune to have met, fished with and friendships formed. Too many to mention - the beauty is that we all think alike!

Compete to better ourselves, achieve and be humble, cultivate respect - and respect our ocean resources!

2011 is the Fishing Year of my Life!
