How do you preserve hooks?

I generally don't keep any hooks smaller than a 6/0 or 7/0 after a fishing trip (not refering to day trips ect..) In Moz there's usually so many local fellow fishermen around that it is a pleasure to give it to them including some extras

With shy high prices of tackle nowdays, I was wondering what's the best or your personal method of preserving hooks?

Well this might sound strange, but I keep my hooks in pill plastic bottles and leave the little sachet that comes inside to keep the pills dry and the moist out. Never had any hooks rusted or getting corroded! Some pill bottles have these sachet inserted inside the cap.

I've used spray & cook from time to time! I put the hooks in a pill bottle and give them a squirt. Seems to do the trick.

Hi

I also wash them after the trip but then I store them in a container with a bit of mielie pap.

those silca pellets are fantastic , haven't had a rusty thing in my bag for years - keep a few scattered in the bag and inside my trace bags and hook/swivel containers.

those silca pellets are fantastic , haven't had a rusty thing in my bag for years - keep a few scattered in the bag and inside my trace bags and hook/swivel containers.

Im a sparky and get them inside the smoke alarm box's , but most electronic appliances should have them inside the packaging ,they seem to be putting it in shoe box's as well - get word out amongst f&f and i'm sure u'l get heaps in no time .

I get mine vrom the chemist from emty holders. Die maklikste is om so min moontlik aan die hoeke te vat want sweet laat dit die vinigste roes.

i always use baby powder in all my tackle boxes ..it works very well and it is easy to clean off your hooks when you are going to use them

Personally Fishing is becoming a really taxing /expensive sport so i try & save all my hooks .& traces . I recycle !!!

Once i get home I was the hooks off with fresh water , dry them a bit , Spray Spanjaard tackle guard on them , let them dry for while & then back in packets , mark them & back in tackle box ...

Line your tackle box with newspaper it absorbes any condensation / humidity...I also plastic pill bottles and rice...works well...

Another one...get your wife to save up the used cooking oil from frying eggs etc...it gets very sticky...PAINT it on your trailer springs...its brilliant...paint it on every other time you use your boat...it builds up a hard sticky coating...its brilliant...

Hiya Guys,

Rice in your hook containers.

Flour in your rig bags

After use rinse in fresh water & spray with Q20 leave out to dry and then back in your hook containers or rig bags.

Works like a charm...I even save my Diatchi hooks from rusting!!
