You see the thing is that i need to able to walk into a shop, and have them tell me the info i need and not just try sell me what they have....

BM - Mate, just my same issue with the local stores....
and its something I would like to change...
I would love to find a store who can give me honest, practical advice, rather than either:
A - Trying to prove to me they are such a hotshot and know everything and, as you say, try sell you the wrong thing...
or
B - Try and bullsh*t you into buying something, because they actually have no clue about what you are asking... but because they are in a tackle store, they assume they know more than their punters....
For me, rather be a man, if you don't know what someone is aksing about, admit to it, and say, " To be honest bud, I am not really sure... but I will find out for you." and then DO IT... do the research, do the investigating, and find someone who can answer the questions!
I sure as hell can't answer them all, and in the begin could answer none of them... but through asking questions, research, fishing and the help of folks like Chris W afforded opportunities by friends like Hammertime on his boat to experiment, and others, have manged to learn a ton through experience and being taught by others....
And I'd like to provide folks locally with the great service and experiences I've had from others....

And its too damn true... we are the Angry Mob, and we read the papers/internet/magazines and the ocean everyday.... we like who we like, be it jigging, popping, soft plastics, rock an surf, whatever but we hate who we hate, the Rip off artists, bullSh*tters, Tackle store communists and the ikes, and we are easily swayed... but we are swayed to the truth..... once you see it, find it, experience it, you ain't accepting nothing else....

btw i dont mind the kaiser chiefs...
thats why its my dream to open a tackle shop one day ....
i think the business lies in service and not just having huge stock, or a shiny premises...
here in richards bay, i always go to spinner tackle because he tells me it like it is and is always willing to help me with no matter what i ask....
and its a small shop, crammed full of stuff, but i like the people and the way things are run there..
thats why its my dream to open a tackle shop one day ....

Hey Nepps? Remember your tirade over the Blue Rose debacle? I have one better to tell you - another prominent tackle trader in JNB - I popped in there yesterday between meetings for a browse and got fed more smelly manure about the NEW BR's (the same ones that are discontinued?) and these knowledgable lads have them on the rod racks at a list price of R4,500!!!!!!!!
Oh yes, they had never heard of Inbreed or Full Gene - got blank looks when I asked the question.
Time for some participants in the trade to clean up their act a little methinks.........

Well if this whole situation with Chris's sticks coes right, then at least we can gaurantee that th customer will be getting exactly what is advertised, with all the info and back up required!!! And by people who know, and are intersted, and passionate about the angling and the tackle...

Nepps, What are the good jigging sites mate. Found one or 2 but have hear there are some good one. Need some info to fill my brain. Got 2 nights coming up where I am baby sitting with the wife going out, so wont have admin for sitting on the throne reading fishing stuff. I cant wait.
