Ken don't give up. Reports are coming in of fishe being caught all over the place. As skuimkop says, october is one of the best months to fish. Persevere and you will be rewarded.

Give us a bit more info on your bait and bait placement. Maybe we can help

I know it is not winter anymore but I didnt want to create a new thread for this...Me and my friend went fishing from saturday till tuesday and this is what we caught

This was our first fish both taken on carp heads it went in the night and when we woke up this was a nice surprise. The bigger one was 11,9 kg and the smaller one was 9.8

We rowed in heads but did not get a bite in the day. When it was twilight we took out carp heads and chicks. We also took out a half carp hoping for something bigger.

The barbel did not seem to like the day old chicks and we got all our runs on carp baits.I got a bite about ten the next day and to my surprise it was on the half carp!It was on.It was not as big as I hoped for but a new pb for me.It weighed 12.9 kg

We sent out fresh carp heads and threw a fillet bait in with carp tackle. The carp rig had a run at about two.It was on and it was big!My friend managed to land it on 10lb line. With heart racing runs and the net being to small it was a great fight!A new pb for him at 13.5kg

A pic with me to show the length

I had a run at four with a bit smaller barbel taken on fillet again

We went to bed with fresh baits in when we woke up the carp tackle was nearly spooled! We also had another run on half carp.Smaller one on fillet bigger one on half carp.

All in all a good trip for me.We missed many runs because we found a good spot 300m out but only had mono so we had to deal with the stretch we had good carp catches the first day.I am thinking of buying extra spools for my jigmaster to spool them with braid so I can go farther out.Does any one perhaps know where I can get.My mission next time is to get the tempo up and break the 15kg barrier!

Goeie tye manne! Bly om te sien julle het n paar lekker vis getrek! Ons gaan die 19de tot die 20ste Krugersdrift toe. Ek gaan n paar mense daar wys en help om groot babers te vang as julle wil join?

Ja sal baie lekker wees gaan jy saam vriende gaan?Ek wag nou net vir kloppers om sensation stokke te kry dan is ek reg vir die 20kg monsters!Wat dink jy van die bait presentation? Is die hoeke darem reg ingesit? As ek groter babers wil vang moet ek groter aas aansit of is die aas reg?

Well done GC, Congrats boetie, very happy you got onto some fish. One comment, just looking at the half a carp you put out, maybe try beating it a bit, slash the body cut off a gill plate. Will aid in getting the scent out and create a better. Also what is the reason that you want to take the bait out further than 300m? Rather place bait on an ara you know is going to produce than waste time taking bait out far just for the sake of taking bait out far.

Thanks hey,im not taking the lines so far out just for the sake of it I took it out to a rock point(If you look on the photos it is on the right on the opposite bank). The water was alot deeper there and had alot of lines next to us from the neighbours so wanted to get the bait away from the noise. How much longer must I make it?Will 50cm be fine?
