Hi guys, my Elbe Waverunner rod is nice and all but the eyes are absolutely sh#t. When i got home and removed the brand new rod from the tube the one eye was broke, so got the middle section replaced free of cost.

but now two more eyes have broken(chipped off so only the steel ring is left), i'm quite anal about my stuff so everything has its place and is cared for immensely(probably cause i dont have money to just buy new gear)

i want to replace the eyes with something better, what do you guys suggest?
the second thing is the rod has 2 eyes on the middle section, and 6 eyes on each of the two tips(heavy and light), can the number of eyes on the tips be reduced? if so how would this effect the rod? casting distance? strength? would anyone recommend reducing the number of eyes?

Speak to enigma about the eyes but what I would do is just refund the rod and use the money I would have invested in the eyes to buy a better rod

Ive heard of some elbe rods eyes doing this but mine is still going like a jet.lol

Look for fuji guides they are awsome and will work whell on the elbe. I also want to put titanium guides on as they work whell with braid.

Do u mean smaller or do u want to take guides off? I wont take guides off as u wont be able to load the rod as whell and smaller guides for me will be a issue with heavy leader knots at the coast.

Yeah i was hoping to take 1 of the 6 off and only have 5 on, wasn't sure of the strength implications though. thanks for the heads up.

Go for bigger eyes. My joining knot always hooks on te pathetic small eyes I have. Its caused my rod to be pulled into the water on a few occasions. Will be re-doing that whole rod with eyes in better positions for casting and bigger eyes to let knots pass thru better.

Natal produced all the way trhu winter, nothing size orange river produced and I know some fish over 20kg came out in other areas.

bought this little Shimano GTE5000B baitrunner at cash crusaders for R100. what do you guys think. Its dirty and needs a good clean and service though.

hi guys
I use a whole carp of +/- 2kg and use a circle hook 10/0
hooked just above head and held in place with a toohpick so the point stays proud. Just before I drop it I half cut the guts open to let the smell and flavour out. My biggest in Vaal Dam using this is 18kg.

Very nice size Kenpeg, congrats man. I'll be hoping to catch one that size soon. Hopefully this weekend as i'm taking my two sons(3 &5 years old) fishing. it will be the first time we go fishing without their sister and my wife. just a boys wkn, we cant wait, super excited.

Morning Guys
Fished the Vaal River over weekend.
Nothing going and it was cold at night with a cold wind blowing all day. On top of all that it was full moon as well. I will give it another try at the end of october.

i fished to but busy writing a report for it and will post it asap.

Hi Mission Man,
Fished Lindeques drift below Vaaloevers.
Water was clean, no hyacinth or watergrass but something was affecting the fish. I got a small one that became barbel food but it lay all night and most of yesterday without a touch. Saw only 2 fish come out between 30 rods to our left and right for the whole weekend. One was a smallmouth yellow of +/- 2kg and a carp of +/- 4kg.
Well it can only get better. ^^..^^..^^..
