Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good car/bakkie rod holder for transporting rods to and from the beach.

I have seen the ones that go on the side of the car and use rubber straps to secure and fasten the rods to the holder.

Any ideas or suggestions and where to buy?

Thanks

Wesley

BESTE oplossing. Koop vir jou insteek stokke vir die geld wat jy gaan spandeer op rodholders. Stokke in motor kan nie gesteel word nie. Maklik om te hanteer en gooi presies dieselfde as enkel stok. Stoor en hanteer net baie makliker.

Theft is not the problem, it's to move between spots more quickly, without having to stick the rods through the window. The grapnel sinker might scratch your soft leather seats and it might be drizzling or whatever.

With some of these rod holders the rods are locked into place, so they cannot even steal at a traffic light.

Got the Holdfast from Sportsmans Warehouse. Prefer the one with the strap that has a locking buckle and can take 3 rods.. Road 120-140 km/h from Cape Town to Langebaan and it sit vas. It has yellow and black straps with Holdfast on it.

Just remember that when you use the Holdfast type to clean and wet both surfaces before locking the device. Otherwise you will be seeing your rods disappear in your rearview mirror.....

You can try any tackle shop, I am refering to the Elephant sucker type, not sure what's the correct name... I am not at home now, otherwise I would have posted a pic. I use them when I use my car.

Only one rod holder i`ll ever trust - lost far too many rods with suction cups, even with the big foots.

Thule - snap lock, lock individually etc.

Now that's nice! I have been lucky with the BIGFOOT's only used them 2 or so trips.

Those Thule holder, can you attach them to an existing Thule roofrack? I have Thule racks (for kayaks) on my SUV, so it would great if one can attach them to the existing rack.

You can attach those to any bar - like most SUV`s have. Once attached on the bar they lock with individual keys which m,eans they cannot be stolen, when your rods are on you can lock those latches too for safety.

That's correct Strepie. Normally take cloth and wipe the area first. No need to wet. Get the original one and there shouldn't be a problem - yellow and black straps.

heres a pic of the lockable racks i use on my Toy.

They arejust as grand as those thule racks.
In fact LA Sport also make a similar copy of the thule rack for next to nothing.
