Just had a look at them, there is NO comparison between the Beekman stuff and the Thule set, nothing whatsoever.

Thule - can carry 8 rods with reels
Beekman - 4 because there is no space for more rods

Thule - locks onto your existing roof rails.
Beekman - no lock onto rail

Thule - slamlock
Beekman - manual lining up of lock and latch

Thule - any rod size
Beekman - if you secure a big 13ft and 9ft you WILL loose the 9ft as it`ll slide out.

Thats why you pay an arm and a leg for Thule.

Hi GeeTee,

What racks are these and where do you get them from? If I'm not mistaken, they are actually the ski racks?

Was searching through the forms and this old post came up, and these look great. They work well with a standard 14 foot? What if you have rods with different thickness? Eg 9footer and 14 footer? Price?..

Ps: sorry for the 20 questions :)

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good car/bakkie rod holder for transporting rods to and from the beach.

I have seen the ones that go on the side of the car and use rubber straps to secure and fasten the rods to the holder.

Any ideas or suggestions and where to buy?

Thanks

Wesley

Jason Brink, Buffalo Engineering. 0832857321 He can make anything you want. Ive seen from a 2rod holder to a 8 rod holder in his shop!

Hi All

Similar problem ..... and fold up solution...

Build your own PVC rod holder ... mount when you there \ when needed and pack away when you done.

Here is what I did.... you can use it or loose it.
