i think your missing the point here. No we are not arrogant nor dumb, i was the one that started this topic how then can i be arrogant?

Have we smelt the animal? - You will not be blamed for how you feel about race issues but this is a site where guys bring their wifes and children along.

Have i been shot or shot at? - yes sir i have, i have also done the shooting part not only receiving part.

Seen some pretty bad things in my life and done my share of evil. Been in 4 car accidents and got 40 stiches in the face to prove it. Been stabbed and shot - in all honesty i can truly say that none of these things scared me......adrenalin yes that i will agree on. I think that these things happen so quik that theirs no time for fear.

If they had to tie me up for a duration of time then yes i would agree i would be as scared as hell.

This topic i created was not intended for me thika. i only fish 1 place in pta and the rest of my spots is in witbank / middelburg. It was intended for all that reeds it. And yes if i had the directions to the quarry in samrand i would drive there over the weekend to go and see it and even post some pictures of it on wednsday when i'm back at work.

Johanvc - wonder what the weather will be like on saterday for waterkloof?? Dis koud nou man.

Sorry to hear what happened. Thanks alot for the info im down there every dec good to know about this just very sad that there are less places to fish:(
Also got robbed there at gun and knife point... They took the bait, bait knife, smokes and lighter. we had nothing valuable on us. all the guy said was "cellfoone, cellfoon?" lol. however the scary part was when they left we waited to give them some time to leave so we don't bump into them on the path and they came back pointing the gun and aiming at us. Thats when we jumped into the river and swam away. Pretty messed up.

Sorry Guys I tend to agree with Thika here.
Your postings come across as very very arrogant.
BK why have you had so many run in's - is because you go back for more and more??? Sorry makes no sense to me.

I think you guys should also be aware that Thika is disabled from a gunshot so the man is talking from first hand experince......

All he is doing is say stay away from things that may change your life or end it prematurely - in the famous words of a very wise tracker I worked with many years ago - "One day is One DAY". Having big balls and no brains will not save you.

BE SAFE you only have one life......

Sucks! Donkey balls! Our non existent border control is the number one issue in this country. First stop the increase in people coming in and then create jobs for the people here. I don't know if you guys have been to Cape town of late but its happening here too make no mistake there are loads of illegals here too. I work near the airport and home affairs near Langa Township and all I see are Non locals waiting in the mornings. In my middle class area allot of the flats are rented by non local people. Luckily they are of good nature and cause no trouble, but some areas are already no go and it is increasing fast. 500 000 jobs by the end of the year YaHHHHHHHH right! how thick do they think we are.

Ryan, now how did you know that?

But yes, it is true: we were in a farm attack in 1995 in Port Edward, one of the first ones. Saddest thing though is that my wife was killed.

I still farm and have had more run-ins. Also in my travels in Africa.

Buckz,

No problem man  :)

It is just that these people rely on the element of surprise and once they have pointed you, your options become very limited.

Stay safe

@ thica, really sorry to hear about your wife. And what they brought on you.
Hearing stories like this gets me thinking again, while I am still young should I leave this country. I love this country so much. But...........? Is it worth it.

REC I have been topping on this matter for the past year. I have been high jacket 3 times and arm robbery once. And one attempted high jacking. But the thought of leaving the rest of my family behind is what is holding me back.

@thica, bud no arrogance nor stupidity meant in my reply, actually there's a subliminal message, IT'S NOT WORTH IT TO GO THERE.  Also sorry to hear about your loss, I take my hat off to you! There's just no way I would be able to continue without me Babe, should something like that have happened, I would've lost it and pulled some rage-trip killing as far as I go, no SHAAIT.  Respect to you bud!

@ REC, bud take a look at thica's experience's and take some strength in the fact that he stayed on in SA even after what had happened, fleeing SA to go get your B-hind smoked in another, just ain't worth the hassle.....

LGF it is not just the violence that makes people leave SA. I have a 15 month old baby. What future does she have in SA. The two boys. You can send them to the best schools and they can have the best grades. But still have NO future in this country. I would love to take my bass fishing to a new level to go and fish in the US. I think for educational purposes for my kids en for their future it would be the best. O And don’t forget the Fishing

Grass is always greener on the other side.......But what's under it that makes it grow greener?

I personaaly would not like my kids to go to a school in the US - at least ours still have disipline and manners.

I will never leave africa - there is so much potential here and so much potential to do extremely well. If I had a choice to move out of SA it would be up into Africa - But first world countries - uhm no fanks

VC if the pro's outweigh the con's, I'll be the first one that immigrates, but and again this is as individual and unique as people are, each situation has it's own merrits and motivations and should be dealt with accordingly, however I was just pointing out that violence shouldn't be the considering factor alone, believe me there's way much more violence in other countries that seem so idilic and peaceful whenever you watch a tv show or page through a brochure, listen to the song called "Sunscreen" or do a search for the lyrics here on Sealine and you'll see what I'm talking about...... Again if it's going to be overall better to immigrate then I support that, but if you're only intending to better one or two facets of your life and the rest of it is just the same or even worse, well then don't go, not worth it.
