The weekend coming i am going back there never the less. It's now really getting cold and would be good to see what the fishing is like.

Me and 2 friend went to Rietvlei dam on friday and came back on saterday morning - 11 carp in total.

I will never turn to carp fishing though.

The dams in KZN are rather safe except for the occassional rubber worm brigade at Inanda.

I would however suggest that security be arranged when visiting Goedertrouw. A number of cars have been broken into but fortunately no lives lost :)

i live just up the road from this quarry in kosmosdal and hav been there twice just 2 chek it out.

 

1st tym i went in a back way past the current active quarry bt dnt think u can go that way anymor. the water is lovely but it was lank dodgey was their at the most 5 min and left quickly.

2nd tym i went the other way alongside bluevalley estate i got 30m frm the side still in my car and their was a whole gang of very dodgey suspects, needles 2 say i didnt even get out of my car coz i was out of their faster than i came in.

 

i would love 2 fish their but way 2 dangerous. and it doesent help that their is a location on the oter side of the quarry about 2km away.

keep safe guys we all love fishing but it is not worth your life, not for those f@#&ers

Well we made it out the car with out seeing anybody and the next min they were on top of us. It looks like such a nice. But pitty about the fu%^&*

To be dead onist i stay around the corner from whitfield and have done a few night sessions and there is chubb mamba ect security cars that patrol at night and iv had no incidents there! There is like absoulutly no1 walking around there at night! So in the way i see it is very safe and the people that stay around the dam are very friendly and they come and talk to you!

Sorry but you lost me with your comment? It whitfield close to the midrand/samrand quarry? or are you refering to another place?

Bucknutz Why do you want to go to this samrand quarry. Do you have a death wish? Because believe me you and your gun still don't stand a chance against these guys. Even if you go with 10 armed guys they will bring another 20 with AK 47’s. We even spoke to a couple of cops and asked if they would be willing to escort us and stay there just so that we can fish for an hour or two and they were not interested.

I would really like to see what it looks like there, i heard that this place looks great for bassing. Is there trees around the quarry? Does it have a high wall before you reach the water?

Just very interested.

Anyone have any pictures of the place?

anyone looked for it on google earth before?

There are No trees. It is similar to bass lake with high walls around the side and back and then the flat open section on the one side where you fish. There are reeds on the left and right of the open section with some shallow banks close to where you fish from. There is one or two stumps in the one corner of the shallow banks. Water is just as clean as bass lake and you can see some big fish swim around there.

I took pictures the time we were there but I think the camera was sold to a pawn shop lmao

If you really wanna fish there, you'll have to take one rod and stuff the lures in your pockets as the rest of the loading space in your vehicle should be occupied by stun grenades, a box of 82mm mortars, two dozen RPG rounds, two launchers and then whatever space is left should be filled with magazines full of ammo for your AK, your MP5, the three 9mm's and your 44 Desert Eagle.... now the sad news is that you'll have to discharge most of this if not all just to ensure a save departure from your driver seat, however there's still the fishing time and the departure from the place that'll at least require four times that ammount of fire-power, so going in groups is an option on condition that all carries the same ammount of fire-power and that turns be taken to deplete each deposit of said ammo, so three guys fish while one shoots ammo into the surrounding area at random.........  if this doesn't work all that well, at least you'll be sure that the POULEEEEEECE will pitch some time later to inspect the shooting in progress.....or to get the meatwagon to remove your mutilated corpses......::S

Or are you arrogant or dumb, or both?

Nothing funny about death, especially loved ones or friends that trusted YOUR judgement!

Have you seen the violence and hate in their eyes, have you smelt the animal, have you or your wife or your children been tied up, have you been shot or shot at, have you experienced the hopelesness of having lost control?

I have read a post on this forum where a guy mentions that he walks kilometers with his girlfriend through some "shady" vegetation to go surf and that he has never felt unsafe!

I cringe!
