What setup do u use?


10ft loomis / powerspin6000 / 20lb strikewire

8ft vengeance / powerspin3000 / 15lb suffix ( this setup is sold now)

Look at the spheros5000. Solid spin reel. They use it for jigging also

I looked yesterday at the spheros 8000 to pair with my 10 ft exage, what braid is recommended, for the surf/rocks, if this is going to be my choice of reel?

Anything between 30 and 60lb fireline for rocks. But dont you think a 8000 will be a tad bit off balanced with your 10ft? I would personally not go bigger than a 6000

@ Roland - haven't bought yet, but would like to look also at the 5000 and 6000. Need the right combo and then braid also must be right choice.

Hi Guys

With regards to Shimano reels. The 6000 and 8000 size is the same reel, its just the spools that differ. The 8000 has a deeper spool to take a bit more line and is usually lighter than the 6000 before you start spooling line onto it. Hope that helps.

I use a stradic 8000 on my exage 10ft, fantastic combo, no problem with balance, can cast it all day

2x spools loaded with 20lbs fireline crystal, 2x spools loaded with 50lb whiplash backing and 30lbs saltiga surf casting braid
