Yep, but we will hopefully get underway late Friday afternoon. Can't wait. Departure days have a nasty way of sneaking up on one, next thing you know, you have to squeeze 5 days of work/prep into 2 stpime2

Hi.
We have the usual Jiggers up to 80lb.
But I've also used flyweights for yrs too.
Daiwa Black Sheep 250. and the Daiwa SW 203.
Tiny little reels 9 kg drag. They were designed for Jigging in Japan. and we use them mostly for Barra 3050 plus lb
The SW teamed with a Live Fibre (NZ) 6kg barra stick is perfect. Drops and works jigs to 100g or so. 6580g weight . perfect in 80ft of Still.... water.
250 is mounted on an old 80's Fenwick Tuna blank I had in shed. cut down to 5 ft 6in.
Cap'n Hook. Yes the body does start to ache after a while don't it (70 plus)

What size jigs would fall in this category and would work best on this tackle? And just for fun, what is your favourite jigs for this application?

You looking at Jigs ranging anywhere from 20 grams to 200 grams in some cases.... depdning on your application....
Ultalight or Light jigging is more about the rod/reel/line combo in my opinion than the jig weights...
These modern rods can handle an enormously wide range of jig weights, so one is not just limited to a really light jig...
I like jigs to get down quickly, so I am usually fishing 80 to 200 grams, unless in very shallow water, when then 60 and 40 gram models are the way to go...
I love the little SW Labs Metal Leaf Jigs, The SW Labs Spearhead Jigs are amazing,and the smaller sizes of the SW Cuttlefish. I also really like those new Sea Iron Pelacus Jigs/Spoons cause they can be cast and jigged equally well....
Of course the Squidie Jigs which should be in everyones box I think, work really well on this gear too.....

I have been trying a bit of "shore jigging" from deepwater points with jigs in this range, but it is early days, and I am yet to hook up. It seems to be growing in popularity in Japan and I am confident that at the right spot at the right time, it will pay off... just got to figure it out the hard way, which is part of the fun!
