Many thanks to Miles for forwarding a lovely YouTube segment with the JM Saber Game 100 working YellowTail off Dassen Island.

Here is the quote from Miles:

"JM100 Sabre, Abu Revo Toro Winch 50, 20lb JB braid and a 200gram jig. (the smaller 100 gram jig's didn't work so well, so i switched over to the larger 200gram jigs, and had to use the JM, as it was the only jigging rod i had......)

Anycase, buggered up a few yellowtails up to 8kg's on this outfit. SIMPLY INSANE fun!!

FIsh was caught at Dassen Island in 60m water depth. Fish were holding 45-55m down.........."

yeah Roy, u dont dont have to convince me anymore, that rod pulls fish like you wont believe. i fished with Miles for snoek and used that identical set up, definitely a fish killer. i just want a proper jigging reel, jigging master Pe2 hint hint.

YIP I LIKE YOUR THINKING, I CAN SAFELY SAY THAT THIS THE ROD IS A NO BRAINER, THE REEL IS ANOTHER STORY, I LOOKED AT SEVERAL AND FOUND THE OKUMA ANDROS TO FIT MY NEEDS EXCEPT THAT I DONT NEED A 2 SPEED AND THE PRICE. I RECKON A PE2 AND SABRE100 YOU CAN STOP MOST THINGS IN FALSEBAY.

Cheers mate... I've bashed a couple really great fish on this set up, some nice yellowtail which have been awesome, but no decent pics...

 

That Spike, like most of them, was a bit sloppy really... they great fun on a super ultra light gear in that size, but I'm talking 6lb braid, on an ultralight dropshot set up, and a 2000 size spinner... but even on ultralight jigging gear like my JM 100 Powerspell, they not much of a challenge... make for a cool pic and better than a kick in the pants!!
