what is the tackle set-up for snoeking?
for handline you want a 42, 47kg or 52kg for bait, you can go lighter but when the seals are around you going to have hassles. Then you want a 60kg or heavier "lead line" this is for working a dollie or spinner. Get yourself a few different colored barrel leads and chrome, and some skirts, the hand made red ones are the best. You also want to get some 11/0 or 12/0 hooks with swivels for bait and a couple without swivels for the spinners and leads. You also need to get a selection of ball sinkers to use on the bait lines when there is a bit of current, get from the very smallest to big marble size. You can also use a spinning rod, something heavyish, i use a Shimano 20/40 on a Purglas tiger special and some Garfish spinners with strengthened hooks and nice heavy duty clips! And you will need a few vingerlappies and then you set to go!
which is the more convenient way to catch? handline or rod? :kaykak
i still prefer to catch with the handline but will always throw a spinner with the rod, but if the seals are around you dont want to be using a rod!

If you guys go fishing please give my brother a ring, his name is Gert and his number is 0791230921 or send him an sms with the time and place.

He is still new to kayakfishing and only fishes False Bay at the moment because the only guy he knows stays there, so naturally they only go fishing out there.

I am sure he would love to get to some new places and meet some new people.

And guys the only way these SMS'e is going to work, is by please supplying me with the info or telling me where you are fishing that weekend , so that I can forward it to club members , so that you don't have to fish alone. We are using SMS'e because not all the members has access to the web like Danie's brother.

Maybe we must make a list of all wannabe snoekies and then connect to the guys who know how and where and then we can organize a get together or a clink.

dont forget to keep your hand clear of the teeth. its eina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its not eina when they bite you, the problem comes when you pull your finger out of its mouth, thats when the most damage is done

dont try and pull out the finger rather push it deeper. thats where the saying comes from . give the finger and it takes the hand::S

Snoek were caught today between OPBC and whale rock. Might find some closer in to opbc but the water needs to settle for skis.

Wish there was a bankie open for me somewhere. Hopefully the water will settle by next weekend and the snoek  still in Table Bay.
