Not disrespectful at ll AndriesH, I genuinely still use my 49 by preference. In fact I have two and use the second one with metal reel on the boat. Both are still in original nick without any parts replacements or repairs. And the other guys do laugh at me!

That being the case... GT, I'll bring along some advanced technology for you - a step up from the 49... the one and only 500 Jigmaster!! :first

 - maybe it will make you feel a bit more at home...

Wow - it might be worth while including and old timers kit show at the Leeuwkop social on the 24th.
It would be nice to compare some Penn 49's, jigmasters, surfmaster and maybe an Ambasador 10000 or two.

I haven't used my 49 for a long time as I am scared that the bakelite spool would give in. (Also it was my Dad's - so a lot of sentiment)
You know what it's like - that once a year big one that really winds the line up tight.
:spite

I'll back you up when you fish your 49 - it still is a great reel.

Directions on the R24 ..,. From East gate .

Proceed on R24 past the Airport on to the R21 heading toward Pretoria ,
Take the Atlas rd Off ramp .
@ 1st Robot turn left .
At t-junction turn right .
Next robot right – (Auto Pedigree on your right .)
Take the 1st left turn & keep immediately left .
Proceed straight down that road – as u see the bend of the road .

Keep left , u will have to go onto the Dirt Road & then get to the entrance .

We will be the first crowd immediately on the left as you go into the dam. Just remember guys that after the reed section, the whole dam is reserved for the papgooiers... so don't go casting next to some okes Carp rod..., he might get upset with you.

OK... Good news is that I just spoke with Mag-man and he managed to arrange another flight... they wanted to charge him 50Euros per kilo for his fishing gear, so it seems that he will be arriving with not too many clothes LOL;)

So we're all systems go for Saturday...!

Thanks Reefer, pretty easy to find I'm sure. What size sinkers/what rod/reel you taking with you?

Reefer,
I drove around for 1.5 hours looking for Blaawpan, couldn't find it! Where is the T-junction after turning left onto Atlas rd? I couldn't find any T-junction from Atlas rd to Kempton Park! Eventually gave up after 1.5 hours and 1/4 tank of petrol.

Howzit guys, lakka to be back. Bit of a pity I couldn't spend more time with each person, especially the girls who I needed to spend more time with, ideally you want one on one tuition, but it was still great to meet you guys and spend the day with you guys.

I hope I showed you guys a few tips, or taught you guys a few trick's. Remember more rotation equals more lead speed, and longer leader equals less speed.
