No and not the other way around either.

Both are not made anymore and the GTE spares are being discontinued.

From the Shimano site

The succesfull Baitrunner XT RA has now been upgraded from Varispeed to Aero Wrap II with 2-speed oscillation. This will give the reel an improved line lay vs its predecessor. The overall body is now made out off hybrid aluminium instead of XT-7 giving the reel additional strenght and protection.

Now with Aero Wrap II and 2-speed oscillation providing unsurpassed Shimano line lay for smoother and further casting

Hybrid Aluminium body making the reel strong and robust
Stunning understated black cosmetics

Double handle giving the reel an excellent balance even under high payloads

1 extra cold forged spool

Price differences? Probably due to prices they purchased at and new prices of the newly launched XTRB

I don't know how or why?

Lets go back a few steps and identify the confusion.

The wording seems to be the misleading factor.

It is an upgrade of the XT RA and not the XTR=RA

The Super Baitrunner is the XTR-RA and the XT-RA is just a better version of the everyday Joe Baitrunner.

Hope this clears it up for you.

The XT RB is an upgrade on the XT RA. It has the same bearing, not the special cast assist spool and it uses the Worm Gear instead of the direct gear drive. (It would more or less be like the older GTE-C models which was also gear driven)

If I understand correctly, the XT RB (Baitrunner) is an upgrade on the XT RA model (4+1 bearings). The XTR RA (Super baitrunner) is a model above (7+1 bearings). Thus you can not compare the prices.
