just some other advise to other anglers:
St Lucia is not what it once was.
But there are still some fish to be caught.
the time spend next to the water cannot be bought in a book.
you need to put the hours in.
yes you can get advise regarding aspects, but implementing them correctly and understanding them correctly is key.
identifying the right water is of paramount importance.
i like water which seems to be very busy!!!
i like water with constant waves.
they do not even need to break, but there needs to be waves!
this is what some might call, working water....others might say, they do not like it.
well we have proven that the water we choose is good.
long shots are not always needed, sometimes a 60meter shot is all what is needed.
but sometimes you need a 150 meter shot
hard work and perseverance is needed to be successful in this day and age on the beech of St Lucia.
never listen to what ill advised people tell you.
but listen for the fine points...... which they unknowingly drop
many anglers do not fish the same way as we do.
if they say, there is a side wash, go see for yourself!!!!
bait is also important.
live bait is key, but dead shad "whole" is just as good.
take notice of what is happening on the waters edge!!!
sprats do wash out at times, this will cause shad to hang around.
make sure, you trust your tackle and all knots are right.
make sure your hooks are sharp.
and, put in the time and effort.
i always wanted to catch a kingie.
during 2006, October i left my wife and went on a fishing trip to catch my first Kingie.
the wife asked, when do i plan to return?
my words were, when i caught my first Kingie.
well, 4 days later i got the 1st one of 28kg at Cape Vidal on the 13th.
since then catching Kingies has become easier since we know now what to do when and where.
