bait used - how fast can a cow swim

buy yourself a big KP reel, and load it wih braid and .60 line, the cranking power of these reels (1/1), as well as their line capacity is insane!!!

Na I rate they easier up to a point like I have got an 8kg bek off the boat with one and its easier to hold there heads up but you no gonna hold a 250 zambis head which means you gonna give line and personally Im bang for that spinning handle

Hey Kevin,it will suffice,load the Torium 50 with 900m 50lb braid,200m .60mm main line and 1.5 to 2mm leader and you set.

Many thanks for the feedback.

What braid would you suggest, not whiplash(can not afford it). Someone is offering me PE Dyneema/ PE Spectra braid at very good prices. I have not hear of either one. Have you heard of them, and would you recommend them. They claim the 50LB is .36mm. Should I be looking at 50LB braid or something higher.

Hi Kevin,Dyneema and Spectra are both type fibres of which various braids are made of rather then the actual brand name of a braid.Id suggest contacting Enigma and get hold of some 50lb Jerry brown braid,his prices are excellent,or get yourself 50lb power pro braid.

Ok guys this is what I think, but I never swam a big bait before. Why not load the entire reel with 80lb braid. You will be able to get more than 1500m of braid on the big reels?
Or do you need that front part of mono to absorb some of the shocks and to give some abrasive resistance to the setup?

The 0.65 - 0.80mm nylon adds drag to help tire the fish and you can bungi the fish with it. In other words the stretch in the line helps absorb shock and tire the fish because on a very tight drag he has to pull the stretch out to eventually get line off the reel so as soon as he slacks off the stretch in the line recoils working against the fish while you just hold on.

0.65mm has also got substantialy more abrasion resistance than the braid and is a lot cheaper when lost 300m out than 300m of Whiplash (R600+)
