to the left or the right of gifkom? i've caught gallies in water much rougher than that at cape point and in the rain too. did you move around in search of them?

just keep on trying and you will hook into that siza!

To the left and to the right, we moved around lots but with no luck. I do however now know the area well and will keep on trying!

So, I caught my first galjoen. I went to Giffkommetjie today and as I was baiting up I saw a group of baboons coming buy. I then made my first cast while keeping an eye on the baboons and noticed that the leader of the group and his side-kick was coming closer. The next moment he stormed me and at the same time I got a nice bite and then hooked the fish. So, I had the fish on the line and a storming screaming baboon getting closer. I kept the line tight, put my backpack on my back and started screaming at the baboon. He probably wanted to scare me and grab my stuff but I was not going to allow that. After two minutes of shouting at each other he stopped and retreated back to the group. I then got my fish out!! That's how I got my first galjoen. Got a couple nice pulls after that but with no luck.

The galjoen was 30cm, so he went back. Hopefully next time I will get a sizer!

nice one Ian! that is how it starts! but at least you have the know how, come to the clinic on saturday at macassar

Well done Ian...what a experience it was...fighting a baboon and galjoen at the same time......lol

ill give you a nice excuse.if you bring the sausage with you on saturday then ill buy it .(half for the guys to braai and half to take home), now you cant refuse that sort of offer and you will have a great morning with all of us!!!!

thats got to be one of the most colourful ways ive heard of a first time catch, well done dude and hopefully many more minus baboons catches lol...:lol:1

lekka wors that! it will go down nicely at the clinic! you sell your wors and catch a size gallie? now that sounds like a winning recipe to me...
