Hi guys, looking to plan a jigging and popping trip later in the year but highly confused about where to go to.

I have fished Mitsio in the past and loved it but heard that the fishing has been on the decline there of late.

The exchange rate also makes costs a huge factor of consideration nowadays as these trips can get very costly.

Option i was considering are:

Latham Island Tanzania
Mafia Island Tanzania
Barren Isles madagascar (live aboard)
Hallaniyyat Islands Oman
St Lazarus Banks Moz (Live aboard)

Fishing wise what would you guys suggest?
We want to catch loads of fish but also looking to catch that trophy GT n Doggie.

I have searched the forum but still very undecided.
Still thinking whether im better off just pulling my boat down to inhasorro for a week but i would like to do one of these exotic trips soon again.

All comments are welcome, especially from guys who have fished these areas and can give a comparison of some sort.

My choice.....not because I live in Moz, but - I SHOUT & VOTE FOR:

St Lazarus Banks Moz (Live aboard)!!!!!

Should you have any info on the trips you are planning such as times/schedules, costs, tackle required ect...

It does sound good.
I got a quote yest.... 14500 per night on the live aboard. Flight coats around 6k to pemba.
Yacht Can accommodate max 6pax.

The flight is R6k per person.
The cost of the charter per night is 14500. This price is for the whole craft irrespective of how many people. It has 3 en suite cabins for guests which totals max 6 guests.

yeah i should. just need to do a little more homework, and check on crew if they available to make the numbers.

Latham TZ sounds very good, esp for doggies, but its a long run out from dar to the island and anchoring overnight doesnt sound very comfortable which is what puts me off a bit- too strenuous and i like the relaxing feel of a holiday...
That package looks to be around 35k based on 4.

Oman is in the 45k bracket which is way too high for me.

The quote you got for Lazarus Banks was for how many nights,I am also looking at it for an option.I fished Latham a couple of seasons back and the fishing was wild with more than gts and doggies to be caught,we where there for five nights and found anchoring in the lee of Latham very pleasent in some uppish weather.

The quote I got was from marine safaris aboaboard dandelion, a 47ft leopard and for 5 fishing days.

We officially have a crew and are booking it!::H::H::H::H::H

Hi, I recommend that you have a look at www.islandcharters.co.za, They do offer live aboard option to both Lazarus Bank, and Barren Island Madagascar.

I am sure the skipper will take you to the best spots to target "Doggies". There are both extreme GT fishing area's.
