Hey Nepps. Whats the reason that assist hooks are used on jigs? Is it only to bypass any weakness that the split ring of the jig may have, seeing that your line is now going straight to solid ring to kevlar cord then to hook? BTW, i see what you mean now by the hooks to face out. All the shop ones lie accross the jig. Also like your additional squiddy and your clever chain link instead of solid ring.

ANOTHER REASON FOR THE ASSIST HOOK AND WHY ITS POSISTIONED NEAR THE TOP RATHER THAN THE BOTTOM OF THE JIG IS THAT THE PELAGICS JIGGOS TARGET 90% OF THE TIME TAKE THEIR PREY HEAD FIRST.

BJ,THIS IS ONE VERY GOOD REASON FOR ADDING A SQUIDY TO YOUR ASSIST HOOK,MATCH THE HATCH AS THEY SAY,THIS KINGIE WAS FEEDING ON ARROW SQUID,SO IT MAKES VERY GOOD SENSE TO EMULATE WHAT THEY ARE FEEDING ON.
PLUS IT CAN ALSO RESEMBLE THE OLD FOOD CHAIN SCENARIO,BAIT FISH(JIG) TRYING TO CATCH SQUID

YOU CAN ALSO PULL A SQUID SKIRT OVER YOUR JIG AS ANOTHER OPTION
THIS WAS A GRIM REAPER JIG 300GM PAINTED PINK PEARL BACK IN THE EARLY NINETIES
