Sadly no pictures - but I caught a Banded Galjoen that was large enough to eat - and I have to tell you:  Amazing!


I bled on capture and salted it for an hour before braaing - no other special tricks.  Probably one of the tastier rock fish I have ever eaten, I highly recommend giving every second one you catch a good bleed and salt.

Got this 54cm gem this morning in Jongensfontein. Red 🦀 for bait. Pulled the rod flat.

It was a whole crab medium size. I caught a similar size galjoen previously with a bigger crab and 7/0 hook when I was fishing for cracker. You’d be amazed at the size baits they will go for in these waters
