Good that this guy got caught, but I cannot ignore the fact that so many of these guys go undetected. So they arrested a 56 year old man, yet the divers are still out there.

These chaps are taking everything in site, yet the recreational diver is punished by only being able to dive 6 times a year. Diving for perlemoen - I guess this will never be allowed on our coast again.

Good work SAP, keep it up. I just hope the eejits that rape our country from our resource can be educated, just a little bit to understand that quick cash isn't where it's at.

Good job, hope they prosecute him properly and get info on the rest of the gang and prosecute them as well!

My one mate in cape town has a connection to get a box or 2 of the "export" kreef that are being sent to spain I think it is. I've seen a box, labelled export and kreef individually wrapped, the biggest tail in the box was maybe as long as a finger, I've collected bigger sandprawns for bait?! I was and still am completely shocked and I think that is the far bigger crime as they are sending ton upon ton of these babies overseas. If the guy was doing the same on the west coast, as they do, he could have probably sold them to someone who knows someone in charge, as they do, and they would be on a flight right now and we would all be none the wiser.

Back in the day when we were students staying on the Atlantic, we'd go poach a kreef or 2 for the braai and to be honest you'd pick the smallest ones in the crack of the reef down there to grab and put in a bag as they'd be huge and scary. Even of those we'd take home, you'd only fit 2 of them in a bath like that, end to end. It must a real bad signs for the stock if that is the average size now!

I hope that "he", "chuckle chuckle" who has opened up the wealth and bounty of the ocean, for his mates from overseas to plunder...I hope he'd burn in hell if there was such a place.
