Dude i dont think we are high and mighty...i mean i cant even afford a freaking canoe that costs R5000....ok...im happy in my R2000 tube...and its cool...you guys know more then us ROOKIES...please educate us Ryan...would like to learn more from the best.

I am far from the best or an expert for that matter. But convince me that all I have read and studied on the matter of Alien fish and the detrimental impact they have had on the enviroment is wrong and I'll be on your side 150%.
Anyways no hard feelings - all I aim to do is make all fisherman take a step back and look at the situation as a whole...................

Ek is nou so 'n bietjie van die punt af. Ek wik en weeg of ek 'n paar karp, wat ek in 'n vriend se dam kan vang, in my eie dam op die plaas moet gooi. Ek het 'n paar menings hier van 'n paar mense gelees wat reken karp beskadig die bodem van damme ens. Nou wil ek weet, hoe beskadig dit die bodem. Kan dit so beskadig word dat dit ly tot lekkasies ens? Moet ek liewer die karp uithou uit my eie dam?

marios5, dit sal afhang van watter tipe bodem jou dam het. As dit net 'n gewone gronddam is sonder waterdigting om die bodem minder poreus te maak behoort dit nie te veel probleme te veroorsaak nie, maar as jou dam met gel of ander materiaal waterdig gemaak is kan dit wel probleme veroorsaak. Dit is natuurlik net struktureel gesproke. Wat betref impak op die natuurlewe sal dit afhang van watter waterlewe daarin voorkom en ook of dit in natuurlike kommunikasie met 'n natuurlike waterliggaam is. Ek weet nie of jy naby die Goukou is nie maar indien jou plaas in daai omgewing is sal ek dit sterk afraai.

Baie dankie vir die inligting. Die Goukourivier loop langs my plaas verby, maar die betrokke dam waarin ek beplan om die karp vry te laat word deur afloop water uit die berg en 'n fontein gevoed. Dit is 'n gewone gronddam met potklei bodem. Hoekom raai jy dit af in die Goukou omgewing?

marios5, die Goukou is sover ek weet nog vry van karp en die spesie kan taamlik groot skade daar anrig aangesien dit 'n belangrike broeigebied van vis in daardie omgewing is. Die probleem met vis is dat dit versprei wanneer dit deur mense rongedra word, of wanneer damme oorstroom of damwalle breek. As jy wil, sal ek jou gratis adviseer indien jy vis in jou dam wil plaas. Ek hoop om einde Julie na Stilbaai te verhuis en kan jou kom besoek as jy my jou kontakbesonderhede PM.
