Hi Guys, I have a few questions and this seems like the right thread to ask it in, I hope this is not hi -jacking....
My family and I are planning a trip to Palm Springs Resort, Kidd's Beach in December. I would like to get my kids into some small leeries and other fish on lures. I would like to take them to a river, I have a very small inflatable.
I myself have never been successful with saltwater lurefishing, then again, I've only tried it a few times. So any advise on locations, lures or any advise will be greatly appreciated.......damn, Desember is still so faaaaaarrrrrrrr......
Hi Jakes.
Palm springs is a awesome little place. that little blind river has some small leeries in at the moment and should still be there by December if it does not wash out with to much rain.
you also have the Gulu river just down the road towards East London side. perfect river for your inflatable.
there are also some good points and holes in the surf to fish from a round Kidd's beach area . using drop shot, spoons and surface plugs should get you some fish in the sea.
for the rivers get some Strike Pro's and some Led heads.
also try small drop shot plastics, worms and prawn artificial's
you might think that December is still a long way away. but it is just around the corner
hope that helps a bit.
cheers.

This leerie came out at leonards in the surf on a spoon a few weeks back
Hi Boep, do you think that leerie was a lucky shot, or are they common in the area?

It depends on time of year, but when the sardines and shad are around, you will get a few.

..... Do you know if the shad are in the area of Kidd's Beach in Dec or is that up to the prevailing weather conditions and so on?? clinton stanford wrote:Jakes 10 wrote:

Some more questions........ Do you know if the shad are in the area of Kidd's Beach in Dec or is that up to the prevailing weather conditions and so on??
Sorry for all these questions but I'm only there for about 10 days and would like to spend more time fishing and less time searching for them.
Thanks Clinton, plenty more questions to follow.Jakes 10 wrote:

Hi Jakes.
their might be one or two around but they wont be thick. you will get Leerie in December also weather depending though.
i would stick to the rivers around that time of year. Cob, Leerie, Skipjack and Bream are very active in our rivers during that time of year.
I hear what you saying, 10 days goes bye very quickly, but you still going to have to look for fish, thats just the way it is if you know what i mean
if you need more info just ask
cheers.

clinton - any news re the weekend away trip
otherwise hows the fishing been? took a little walk the weekend, good fun with lots of leeries, mostly the 35-45cm size - fished closer to home on sunday with no luck before getting blown away by the wind
howzit
for sure - summer be better for the trip - haha possibly keener on the get together earlier just for the beers portion of it - maybe we should arrange that in the meantime
ja also gonubie on sunday - but just from the side - boat still outa action till I can get some fibreglassing done - got some soft plastics back with some decent bite marks but ja other than that sunday was pretty quiet
My apology for the 'attempted hijack' of the thread. A week ago I was in East London on a business trip, and later took a walk on the Nahoon river point (mouth). How is fishing from the point moving upstream? I saw good stretch of working water from the right of the mouth towards the harbour. I'll appreciate your help, thanx
