Awesome days surface action!

This is why I am busy with a light dropshot set up. I won a Penn Fierce 2000 and I want to load it up with 10lb braid and I'm looking for a light 6'6" rod that's affordable. I can't find a Sensation passion stick dropshot series and the Quantum Kinetic I found is a 7' MH. I'm in no rush as I have a old bass faithful 6' Silstar grade v that I'll use in the mean time and for the bit of dropshot I do these days R350 is all I'm willing to spend.

At least then then you can still have a good fight on the sub 3kg fish that frequent our rivers and get properly stretched by those occasional 5kg+ Kob & Leery.

Fluke, that Quantum Kinetic 7 MH is great. Throws between 1/3 and 3/4 oz. Will be perfect for your purpose, and if a big one takes your lure you will still have plenty of backbone.

There is also a 7 foot Medium available, but that MH is more versatile.

Have a look at Spargs. i got a 6"6 med Passion stick there for R300. they might have some left.
awesome rod for that price. but i must say, i am really enjoying my Quantum Tour range at the moment.

Nice Fishing Clinton, pity the big Leeries weren't around.
Judging by the level that river is tidal at the moment.
I've only ever caught kob there in the day with a colour line and spring tide.

Thanks Fluke.

the bigger Leeries should start coming out as it gets more into spring.

yes the river has just opened up and is filling up nicely with clean saltwater. its going to be good once it closes up and gets warmer.

Broke the handle on my sedona2500 the other day. Better make plan soon. Itching for a river session now. Been a while. :fbash:fbash

Thanks for the feedback.
Spargs only have the Sensation Passion Stick Tiger which is to stiff.
I'm partial to the Kinetic MH but I think the Medium may suite me better.
I'll look at Bilimoria and Target line to see if they've got anything new in since I last checked.

Eish!! when I got home from Palms on Saturday I broke the Bail arm on my Abu Soron STX60:fbash:fbash:fbash:fbash Of all the stupid, idiot things to do in shad season.

That will teach me for strapping a dropshot rod to a bundle of shark rods and S/S sand spikes that weigh a ton:fbash:fbash:fbash:fbash

hi Duif.

yes, Areena is on the Kwelera river. right on top there is some lovely deep Klif face and rocky banks that hold some nice fish. there are some nice Snapper and River Bream up there.

further down towards the mouth you should get some Kob, Leerie and maybe even some Skipjack.
it is a awesome river but it can also be dead!!

Thanx for the info clinton.

I stayed at the resort in feb last year. Got some nice grunters on prown but this time round I would like to target different species on artificials!

What artificials can I use to target snappers and breams?

No probs.

you can try the Halco Sorcerer Jelly prawn colour. get the small 90 with the 2.5m lip. throw it up against the rocks, try get it as close to the rocks as possible.then just give it a slight tweak and let it come back to the surface.leave it to bob on the surface for 1 or 2 seconds and tweak again.

also the Storm chug bug is a awesome lure for Snapper and Bream. work it the same way as above.

for some nice and fun snapper fishing, try get some live Mullet. rig it through the lip with a 2o Circle. you can also trim the tail of the mullet, the mullet swims upside down and for some reason the Snapper love it. cast it close to the cliff face and you should get smashed.

Snapper and Bream are awesome fish to catch. they strong and the take off the surface is amazing to see.

just drifting along the bank throwing little underhand casts towards structure like submerged rocks, tree stumps or along cliff face with deep water can produce some amazing results.

tight lines:wfish

Hi guys

I'm going to the Kob Inn area on Sunday again. I saw a river there last weekend, I think its Qora River.
I want to try some lure fishing there. The river is closed at the moment, is it still worth it?
Another thing is that I'm on foot, so only able to fish the mouth area.
What can be targeted in that area?

Thanx

And what happened the weekend ?

Myself and fluke got a few nice shad on spoon and plug sat morning at leonards. Sadly they donated themselves as sharkbait.
no ways man.
Cut off the fillets and slide out the head. Those boys chould be brough to the coals and chowed :)

Lekka fishing though. Elf are some of my favorite fish to catch on plugs. They really do explode after a plug.
