the Steenie/pignose are thick at the moment so ill be fishing the surf as well. got some lovely White muscle and ill pump some sand prawn. you cant go wrong with a white muscle/sandprawn mix for piggies. the Kob love it too.

ill be targeting them with my 10"6 Excellor and 3500 Seagate. going to be good fun on light tackle.

Piggies are thick you say? Tell me where?
I tried a few lures at Gulu last week Sat, had one small Leerie on for a moment or two but nothing else. Working this weekend so unfortunately fishing time might be a bit limited.

Hi Hylton.

ill PM you with some Piggie info ;)

The blind rivers are very shallow after opening up now recently. has the Gulu filled up a bit?

Fished the pushing spring tide so it was getting a decent amount of water, yes. My thoughts were something along the lines of, after the dirty water with the rain the first push of good clean water might get the fish going.

Apparently it was quiet all over though. Mate had the same situation in Kwelerha and another on Gonubie.

yeh i had the same thing happen last weekend.
lets hope with all the fish around that they will move into our blind rivers that are now open. once they close with fresh, clean water in the fishing should be good.

Hey guys, two questions: Do you have any success in the Nahoon River, and which is generally better, East or West Kleinmond?

Howzit Vades.

i have had success in Nahoon river, but it is way to busy for me. too many boats up and down and the guys ski all the time.

there has been some lovely catches in the past there though.if you can fish their during the week it would be a good idea.

i have not fished Kleinmond too much, but what i have heard, kleinmond east is much better than the west. but then again there have also been some awesome fish caught in the west river.

cheers.

Thanks Clinton, had a few throws at Kleinmond East and Nahoon today.

Kleinmond, I fished near the mouth on the west side (mouth is ankle deep) and at Nahoon, also near the mouth on the west side.

Water at Nahoon was very clear, and not much structure to be seen (at least where I was).

Kleinmond, the bottom is covered with that moss-like grass.

Might give Nahoon a shot again after work tomorrow. Am I fishing in the right place?

Nahoon you want to fish just up from the mouth. so basicly you must fish from the nahoon side of town and not the Beacon bay side.from the mouth area you can walk up around the bend and you will get to a couple rocks. thats where the drop off starts. then their is the beacon bay side witch you can access further up the river. you go over the bridge and follow the road that runs along the river.their are some good spots up their as well.then you can go right up and fish the cause way with is where the river ends.also some nice structure up their and some good spots.

ill PM you my number and if you need any help let me know.

Nahoon generally throws better and more fish higher up , from Batting bridge up to the Abatsford causeway, I've only caught fish on lures from the islands up to the causeway.

How does one access that area? Is the river frontage not on private property?

Both, quite a few spots that are open along the road that links Batting Rd and Abortsford, You can park under the bridges and wade around the islands or park at the causeway and work your way down.

Tried near the causeway, plenty movement in the water but no takes. Something had a look at my Strikepro, but that's about it.
