Sonix, if you are in the market for boat buying, make sure you buy the right type of boat, if you want to do artlure. It needs to be a bass type of boat - flat deck with a trolling motor. It does not need to be an expensive boat. There are plenty of boats on the market for around R40 000 that will do the thing.

Artlure is effective - at the Roodekopjes Five Species Bonanza held in September 2008, the event was dominated by Artlure Anglers. saterdag oggend 6:30 is my boot gepomp, my stokkies met verskillende lures op, reg vir bass, en my vliegstok reg vir n karp! of so het ek gedink...
het n paar gooie gemaak vir bass, maar toe die karp rondom my begin babbels hap het ek maar die bass stokke neergesit en gefokus op die karp. kom toe by n riet bos uit waar 4 karps besig is om kop na bo by die riete te eet... met n gesukkel om die bootjie naby genoeg te kry SONDER om te raas was klaar n effort wat n medalje verdien. wel daar le ek tjoopstil, karp reg voor my...my rooi wol wurpie val tussen hulle maar hul trek hul neuse op en vreet verder...sit toe n mielie pit immitation op...die vliegie val perfek lanks n karp van so 3kg...en WHAP fish on! my stok buig, my katrol skree WHAM fish OFF!!!! ^%$^&* waarom waarsku niemand my dat n karp 2m van jou af jou lyn gaan snap binne 2sekondes nie!!!!! so dit was duidelik dat my 3.7kg leader baie te lig in die broek was vir die karp tussen die riete!
het nou n 10kg florocarbon leader op, dink dis oordrewe maar wil nie weer n hookup verloor nie!
volgende week die tyd sal ek fotos post van die "Carp that did not get away"

Ja nee, dit is extreme hengel, die kunsaas. Waar karp nie op die bodem eet nie (suspended), is 'n vlieg kombinasie gewoonlik beter as 'n loodkoppie. Jou presentation is belangrik, en moenie te lig hengel nie - vis op so kortafstand is brute krag om te tem!
ok so it WORKED! thanks Guys for helping me!
so i got myself those little yellow curly worm thingies( realy dont know how to describe them) oh, go look at Ryan's post on kurper rigs...that same yellow curly's...
anyway...went to this little "pan" in Nigel to get me a carp on artlure! man it is crazy! i see schools of carp just floating and eating things from the surface...i get myself made white bread imatation on my flyrod in the strike zone but i guess they prefer low GI bread...they swim up to the fly and then just ignore it...i got broken of once when i used 3.7kg tippet. so now i use 10kg Floro...do you think its too much and the curp see the line?(but its floro carbon??)
anyway...i went for a break and put my archor(a brick) into the water right next to the reeds...and in goes my yellow wormie curly tail...man it wasnt long before it felt like i was stuck on the reeds...when i put some pressure on the line i felt her!! she pulled me around like a 110hp motor...a couple of times i thought i lost her in the reeds, but then i get her out again...
after a nice fight i got her into the boat...i also got a small one, about 800g...my untrusty(more rusty) scale said she was about 4kg
