Caught this blue ray of around 8kg in the begining of the year whilst fishing for garrick with my 6wght and 4kg leader (27m flyline,50m backing) on the Strand reefs. Wasn't getting any action so slowed down my retrieve...vas papa! I was running over the rocks and it spooled me a few times initialy, then it became tired and dug itself into the sand...not much that you can do exept wait. After what felt like ages I eventualy managed to land it.

9.8kg & 12.5kg leerie off the wall in p.e. harbour (when u could still fish there) on a hopkins copper spoon blue bucktail, 7ft Shimano Technium DF heavy duty shimano axcage 2500 10lb berkley fire line white and 25lb leader. 9.8kg leerie 50 metre marker on line and 12.5 kg leerie 75 metre marker on line. had to keep the 12,5kg one as hooked in the right eye, it was i pity to kill it so majestic. also got spooled on same equipment drop shotting rubber mullets in the surf at gamtoos.

Sailfish of 31.8kg on a Shimano TLD15 with 6kg line, CD7 Rapala lure. Took me about 2hours to boat the fish.

Birha river, 4.2kg white steenbras on 2kg berkly trilene. Ripped every stitch (130m)of line off the reel and then had to turn as it ran out of space. Once it turned I was able to start running along the sand bank to gain some line back. Hooked on a 1/8oz #4 jig head and 3" cammo worm.
Kariega river, 93cm skippie on a 4wt St Croix and #4 mud charlie. Ran out all the fly line and 55m of backing before I turned it. The next two runs were fast but not so far.
Bushmans river, 120cm kob on an outgoing tide 3/0 clouser and 7wt Horizon fly rod. Slow head shaking run that took me from the floating resturant all the way down to the bushmans bridge. Jumped in and swam down river to make sure I didn't lose him.
Smoked by a yellowtail off Bird Island on 15lb braid and mullet coloured jerk shad on a 3/0 1.5oz jig. Stripped a Calcutta 200 before reefing me. Would do this again!

One of the other Sealiners- C's la vie told me about a fight he had with a milkfish in Kosi lake 2 once with a small bass rod & clutch reel...I'll ask him to post that story. I got smoked on a 6ft6 bass rod and 15lb berkley big game in 3rd lake..must have been a kingy...never saw it, couldnt stop it....
