WORLD'S FIRST!.

A while back I started a thread covering Carbon Fibre lures.

On other forums I belong to (3 lure making) in the U.S. the members there said they had never seen or ever heard of carbon fibre lures.

I Googled and found nothing.

We can safely say that this is a world first.

Two photos taken with a new camera so forgive the focus (still learning).

First one is of the Carbon/Kevlar hybrid in the mold halves.

The second is of the molds in the Vacuum bag pre vacuum process.

The pump in question pulls 150 cubic feet/minute so one has to wait for the right time to "pull vacuum". In other words, to pull vacuum before the resin reaches a "Gel" state will result in the liquid being sucked out of the mold.

The object is to compress the laminate and eliminate air entrapment (bubbles).

The finished product should be strong, stiff and have the correct resin to fibre ratio.

I'll demold later and post pics of the final product.

Vacuum bag. This material can withstand elevated temperatures around 150 degrees.

The anodized part is a non return valve and the components in it can also handle very high temps.

The process is the same one used to produce Formula One and aircraft parts with the exception of Autoclave curing which is not neccessary in this application.

The parts will be post (oven) cured though.
