What do you guys think about a free service to let everybody know where the fish is and where everybody is going to be.

I am thinking of something like a email address that anybody can send in "tips" of where the fish is or who will be going out where.

The whole idea is to take the information received and mail it to all the subscribers (FREE). Then a single person or group can decide where they want to go.

I am not talking about creating a kayaking club. This would be pure friendly.

I am just spit balling here.

Any input would be appreciated

Good idea. The reason why we are doing SMS is not everybody has e-mail. (Strange but true)

That was our first idea, with these systems / clubs to just be a way of getting to know and fish with like minded people.

No cost involved. I am happy if you want to start something else. Will totally support it.

Hi Bulky. I initially thought about a sms system, but there is cost involved. I did not know that you guys have a sms system. How does the sms system work. Do you get any info from people?
I do not want to step on any toes.

Why not just start a Cape Town thread on Sealine paddleski forum and if you want it a little more confidential use the pm function? It sounds like you could be re-inventing the wheel? PE guys tend to use the sealine PE thread as a general info sharing - then SMS between fishing mates dates times to meet etc- seems to work ok.

Currently its info I get from multiple sources and its a free service that I sponsor as part of the WCKA club. Would love if more people forward me info because sometimes I miss sending the sms when I am busy or haven't heard anything

Most of the numbers I have was from people that joined the club or have fished with us at some time. Currently have a list of about 80 people.

Yes there are a cost, but like I said the e-mail is a problem because of access. Currently it cost me about R 15 per round of SMS'e per week. (One less coke per week)

That sms system sounds great. Where could one sign up for it. I am really tired of going out to sea and catching nothing. It happned this week end again. We went to the wrong place.

Hi Speedmaster, count me in. I am interested in where other guy's are fishing and joining some for a day out. I fish during the week as well and mostly on my own. I stay in Kirstenhof and can travel either way, be it strand or west coast. I fish mostly the strand area and catch a lot of fish at times but am keen on fishing the melkbos and west coast a lot more.

Guy's remember the fisherman to catch ratio. 90 percent of fishermen catch 10 percent of fish that are caught and the remaining 10 percent of fishermen catch 90 percent of fish caught. This is a fact and obvious by the amount of guy's returning empty handed when other guy's catch regularly. Interesting stuff!:blah

Morning bulky thanks for the sms's havent had one in a while but have assumed there is nothing happening. Havent had much time for fishing lately. I have been hearing of mackerel in Simon's Town but not confirmed, also have had no reports of chokka. Have also heard of some guys catching tail at buffels? Yet no pics or confirmation of guys getting out there. Its quiet out strand way and oomfaan has been quiet. The 26th was quiet with no reports as guys indicated they were going to buffels?.

Melkbos kobbies kom so elke paar dae een-een uit.

Hi JP, I have caught a lot of fish at strand over the last few months. I fish every week. Last monday I caught 11 kob, kept 4 and also got 1 elf of just under a kilo. The kob were between 2.1 and 3 kg. I got several on bait and 5 fish on drop shot as well as the elf. There are I believe a lot of fish around, its just a matter of finding them and working that water. Although I go out at strand, I sometimes have to paddle half way to gordons bay to find fish or I go the other way towards macassar. I will send you a pic to your phone or e mail if you want. I dont know how one gets a pic from a phone camera to the computer.

Nice going kobrob thanks for the feedback. My email is jonzel14@gmail.com. Wish i could get out there. Will be ok after sunday as i will be doing my tenth argus. Ja ek weet vir domgeid is daar nie pille nie. Have been training so water time has been few and far between. Thanks again nice to know the fish are around. Got a bag of fresh pilchard from treknet the other day so hope to use some in the next couple of weeks

Hi JP, I still have half a freezer full of sard's that I got a few months back. There was a shoal at hout bay on the beach so I took my throw net across and got about a hundred kilo's in about five throws and gave half away. Free bait. Lekker. The manna were going crazy for them. Everyone and his dog was there. Ha ha good fun. Good luck with the argus. My arthritic knees would stop me after a k let alone the rest. Have a good one. I am goig fishing tomorrow and will let you know how I went.:kaykak
